Southwest Medical Group Primary Care

"Veterans with community care through the VA, DO NOT GO HERE! I understand if you're in the Dolores/Mancos/Cortez area, there's limited options for community care providers, but unless you are in good mental health, this place will make you lose your mind in trying to get anything done outside of your primary care visit. Anything outside of your regular provider visit, you need an additional authorization from Southwest (ex. Mammogram), which gets sent to the VA--but only if you can find someone at Southwest that actually knows how to do this, which after at least 3 phone calls, I have been unable to get done. I was told by the VA that many veterans in the area use Southwest, so I thought the issues would be minimal, but I was wrong. At this point, I'm going to forego care because I just don't have the energy to deal with Southwest. The people at Southwest are kind, but competence is scattered."

"Mullen is absolutely amazing. She has taken time to care about what I need, she isn’t judgmental or unkind which seems to be a common theme in alot of practices in Cortez (axis) being the worst. But Mullen has exceeded my expectations as well as everyone else I have encountered in this office. I appreciate them going above and beyond to make sure I have great care. I highly recommend this office and especially Dr Mullen !!!"

"The front office staff can make or break a practice.....this is a broken system. Left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing! Very poor communication and an attitude over the phone!!! I’ll pass on this practice for those reasons, NOT because of the doctors, they’ve been very good!"

"I just wanted to take a moment and write about my son's primary care doctor, Moriah Tarpey. My son has encountered a lot of challenges in his short 4 years of life. We have had issues with doctors missing major medical challenges and because of this, developed additional problems accompanied by trauma. We have had numerous doctors all over the four corners area and ended up with a wonderful pediatrician in Grand Junction. However, the trip to Grand Junction was long and coming from Dove Creek, ultimately unsustainable. However, I would drive to the ends of the earth to make sure my son gets proper and compassionate care. Our family has had multiple doctors within the Southwest Health Care System. Unfortunately, they have all had terrible bedside manner and I almost always left not confident in the diagnosis. Until, Moriah Tarpey. She is without question, a doctor who genuinely cares about her patients. I can't begin to express how refreshing it is to have meet a doctor like her and in all honestly, she restored my faith in medical professionals. She is a diamond in the rough and one of the best doctors I have ever encountered. I just wish she could take on adult patients. If you need a doctor for your children, she is amazing and you can rest assured she will genuinely put her heart into the care of your child. Southwest Health Systems is beyond lucky to have her!!!"
