Reviews of WoodSpring Suites Thornton-North Denver
"My Husband and I love the place it's clean, updated, and awesome friendly staff. This location is hidden away in a suburban neighborhood and beautiful community. If in Colorado and looking for a long or short term location the price is outrageously affordable for0 the perks. We stayed in 313 and it felt like a home away from home."
"DO NOT BOOK!! For a smoke-free hotel, not good. We had to walk through a group of smokers just to enter. We were given the keys to our room, but were hit by the stench of smoke as soon as we opened the door. We quickly returned to the desk and requested a different room. We were assigned another room which was free from the smell of smoke, but offered very few comforts otherwise. The room had no artwork and in places, chipped paint. The kitchenette had no dishes, utensils, or pans, which usually comes in an extended stay suite. I noticed that one could purchase/rent a set from the check-in desk for an additional fee. The bed were set on exposed, elevated metal frames, like used in college dorms, which provided ample space for storing luggage, and perhaps intended to replace the lack of closet in the room. We decided to not stay the night and were in the hotel for less than an hour. The staff at the desk told us that we would be charged for the one night and that we could discuss an additional refund with the General Manager Kathy Wilson. The staff member provided the contact information to call back in the morning. The next day we called to talk to Kathy and told that she was not available. The Assistant Manager, Aubrey, listened to our experience and said that she would discuss it with Kathy and call back. She never returned the call. After 10 days, while reviewing my credit card statement, I discovered that I had been charged for the full 4-day stay. Again, we spoke with Aubrey about the matter. She said that a credit would be submitted for the additional three days, but that charges for the first night would remain. She had discussed the matter with Kathy and because we did not cancel at least 24-hours in advance and we had signed the paperwork at check-in, the charges for the first night would remain. No further discussion or consideration was made. So I'm leaving my review so you can avoid a similar experience."
"Surprised when I read all the negative reviews about this place... apparently they've made a lot of improvements since then. Room is perfectly clean (and has pillow cases!) and no weird smells that I've noticed anywhere in the room or common areas. You can't expect a 5 star hotel for this price but I'm pleasantly surprised by how nice it is. Location is the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars, you can't really walk to anything here"
"I visited over a year ago so I hope things have improved by now, but based on the other reviews it looks like it’s still just as bad. I was visiting from out of town and had Ubered to the hotel, so I didn’t have a car with me. When I arrived, it took a while for the person at the desk to attend to me. I gave him my ID and he told me I have to be 21 and I was only 20 at the time, which I understand but I could not find this anywhere on their website. I was hoping they’d make an exception but they didn’t, so I asked if it was okay for me to sit in the lobby while I tried to find another hotel and a way to get to it, and they said yes. I was sitting in the lobby quietly, not disrupting at all, and the guy at the desk told me I had to leave and was not welcome there. It was evening in March so of course it was freezing outside, and I had a migraine from traveling all day which isn’t their fault of course but significantly added to my discomfort. I left as soon as they told me to, but it was their fault that I was even sitting in the lobby in the first place since it was not advertised on the website that I had to be 21. If I knew I had to be 21 why would I book in the first place? 100% do not recommend simply for how rude and unaccommodating they were."
"My 8th amendment rights is supposed to protect me from cruel And unusual punishment, and somehow this establishment is still in business. I’m the first person to admit I can’t afford the Denver prices, and am always looking for a deal. However, I regret not spending more money to stay elsewhere. If I wanted to sleep amongst the dirt and hair embedded within the bed linens, or smell the rancid stench that ruminates the building, god would’ve made me a dog. Front desk hours are posted at 7am-10pm, but should be adjusted to “Sometime between 7am-10pm”. Staff is often not there when you need them, and were unhelpful when present. For example, Staff refused to provide 4 towels in a room booked for 4 guests, and didn’t even bother putting pillow cases on the room pillows. Naturally, adjacent from the frequently barren front desk is a QR code requesting only good reviews. Good luck with that. Thank goodness this hotel doesn’t serve breakfast, or id have more negative things to say. I hope you find this review helpful when booking a stay in the Denver area."
