"Seriously, the school environment is so big, crowded, and confusing, that it took me forever to finally figure out where everything is, and even then I am still confused when I get switched to other classes. The school itself looks like a prison, and it's so inconvenient when there's grade specific hallways and such. For two classes I have to cross a street and even then I am sometimes late, and it sucks seeing how the school has behaved ever since I arrived. Drugs were passed around at one point, fights are everywhere, and the school just isn't a good environment to be in."
"Teachers are amazing. Every issue we've had over the past 3 years has been addressed by the senior staff (principal and vice princvial) and problems have been resolved immediately."
"Worst D8 school. Other family and friends that attended have had issues with bullying (encourage by staff), being disrespected due to ethnic background. My personal experience with my child has been just as poor. I've been trying to reach the counselor all year and still no reply. I need to set up a 504 with the school and still hasn't been done since they don't respond. My kid and friends are being bullied but the staff ignore it. Unless outside district employees see it nothing is done regarding the bullying. Despite lockers in the school, students aren't allowed to use and have to carry all books and school supplies, plus anything extra in regular backpacks since students are told not to use rolling backpacks. This is causing back pain already in life for these kids. For some reason this school is high student to minimal staff ratio. Even the school start/release times. My 6th grader rides the bus and doesn't get home until 5pm and she doesn't even stay after school for extracurricular activities. She can't do extracurricular activities due to time. She barely has time to do home work if she wants to sleep, simply because of by the time she eats dinner, washes dishes it's already bed time. Staff don't listen to students if they have questions or concerns. Students have no one to talk to if they are having any kind of emotional, physical, peer, or other personal problems. And the design/paint of interior of the school is more like a detention center than a school which is very depressing. Classes are so far apart that students don't have time to go to bathroom between classes, and my kid had to run straight from last class to the bussing area on other side of street from the school or she will miss the bus. Last semester her last period class teach would frequently hold class after the bell causing anxiety and missed bus. Living on Mesa it's not safe for the kids crossing Santa Fe/highway and walking over two miles."
"If at all possible, avoid this school. The staff frequently mistakes my child for other students and is not supportive. The principal tries to behave as if he is supportive, but when asking for any assistance he won't help and has stonewalled me from getting my child into another program"
"School was all great and good until they decided to mess everything up recently, they run it like a prison. Students can't sit where they want at lunch, they have to exit and enter through grade specific doors, they can't even go on one side of the building. I believe they think that the best way to keep kids out of trouble is too make them feel like they are in trouble, which is a horrible thing to do, and much worse for those kiddos who don't get in trouble. The lunch situation is the worse, what do they have against kids socializing witg there friends? I heard they allow kids to use there phones in exchange, but what about those who don't have a phone? They are just left feeling upset that they have nothing to do. I feel they value sceens and texting over basic human interaction. I would not send my child here unless it was my only choice. Overall I'd rate this school a 3/10, the teachers are okay but the administration is just plain garbage."
