Reviews of Sagewood Middle School
"Mrs. Cap is the best! (She told me to say that) The pizza grease is great! “Caroline Elbert is great” says Caroline Elbert. “Teachers are lit!” John said."
"10 reasons this school is a joke Does this school deserve one star? NO, not at all. I recently moved here and in my three weeks going to this school I'd been treated worse than in all my years living on planet earth. 1) Someone walked up to me and flat out said "You know who I hate? YOU." The next day or maybe the same day that same person called me a ----------- ---- attention seeker! What the heck! Whatever happened to basic respect for human beings??? I went to the counselor (Who was clearly biased) and was told "She doesn't mean it" "she is a sweet kid" "give her another chance". The next day I was met with backlash from at least 2 other students who verbally beat me up. I left school in tears. Thus, the very last day I will ever go to that God forsaken school. 2) The office staff does nothing to help this overpopulated school. I went to the school nurse with a migraine and they said something like "can't you just make it for the rest of the day?" I said "NO I HAVE A MIGRAINE!" Then they said they would call one of my parents to come pick me up. About 10 minutes later the nurse comes in and says something like "Is someone coming to pick you up or not?" I told her that the office staff said they'd call my parents for me!!! She's like "NO!!!" I'm like Okay. When I get off the phone with my mom I lay down because I'm supposed to. The next thing I know the nurse flips on the brightest overhead light in existance!!!!!! (She's cleary uneducated in the fact that bright lights DO NOT help people with migraines/severe headaches!!!) 3) Teachers cuss at you and call kids cuss words. 4) The school has like 5 different stinking "educational" platforms. 5) The school lunches are more like snacks on miniature trays with enough food for a half of a snack, you pay too much for too little. 6) The school is huge and no one bothered to show me around so I could at least know where the bathroom is. 7) There are no lockers and too many text books for being a "online school" I had to carry a 17+lb backpack around all day. 8) Techers bark at you and hand you enough papers to make a whole set of encyclopedias out of and you'll be up till 10:30 on a light load of homework. 9) The school transfered me (after I'd been riding the bus for a week) to a bus that dropped me off in a place I'd never even known existed before. 10) If you don't own your own laptop and you're late/have an appointment you can't have a computer which is needed in every class and teachers will yell at you. 11) Some teachers will ignore tardy slips and mark you absent no matter what. Anyways this school stinks. Don't come here, you will be treated with nothing but disrespect and who knows what else."
"Most of the teachers here don't care about you. If you learn or not. They are very bad at teaching what needs to be learned. The office is slow on handling problems and cannot seem to punish kids that deserve it."
"It is the most amazing school you will ever go to you get lots of knowledge and there are tv's in the bathroom. And you get free wifi and it is great wifi. There has only been 2 people arrested that's it. KNOWLEDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"If I could give this school (and I use that term loosely) zero stars, I would. I consider myself a very reasonable and fair individual so when I say that parents would have a better chance of educating their children by sending them off to join the circus than to enroll them in Sagewood Middle School rest assured it’s warranted. I am not sure if it’s out of fear or an erroneous notion of fairness but the administration within this school behaves in such a manner that one would think the children run the show. Several times my son has been subjected to brutal bullying and tried to stand up for himself only to be lumped with the miscreants who were tormenting him. Evidently the message sent by administration is that they should run and tell the teacher. This indicates to me they fail to recall what it is like being on the other end of that relationship as the child; running and telling the teacher often time results in brutality that is exponentially worse after the fact. Given the way in which the administration fails to step in and handle things before they reach critical mass I do not blame students for feeling as though they cannot trust nor rely on them for assistance. Two main instances so that you understand context: My son's seat was taken when he got up to sharpen his pencil and when the girl refused to move and my son continued to implore her to give him back his seat at the workstation (which still housed all of his belongings, by the way) she proceeded to physically attack him. Another kid taped the altercation with his cellphone only to upload it to YouTube days later. My son? Well of course he was reprimanded because he dared to show frustration and used inappropriate language. Second instance: some "kids" decided to rifle through my son's backpack and pilfer his lunch food. When he insisted they return it they refused and things escalated (where the teacher was during all of this is anyone’s guess) to the point that my son raised his voice and kicked in frustration at a kid who held his lunch. Now I am not one to condone physical violence but I also understand the frustration that arises when you are continually tormented and not a single adult steps in to take charge on your behalf. My son was reprimanded to a lunch detention (the upside, I am told, is that he was not given a full referral) because he caused a disruption to the class. It seems to me the disruption was the children pilfering his food, yet again (this is not the first occurrence where my son has gone without a lunch on behalf of this golden example of today’s youth) and the failure of the administrator in the classroom to command control of the situation before things reached an echelon. These are just two examples of the complete ineptitude of the administration and the policies upheld within Sagewood Middle School. Simply put Sagewood reflects an ideology that is directly feeding into the rampant bullying and subsequent detriment of the bullied that we hear about so often on the nightly news. The kids are quite literally dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t. They have no choice but to stand up for themselves and then also face punishment for not being a doormat. The policy within this school is more than ineffective, its dangerously close to criminal."
