Reviews of Hinkley High School
"This school is focused on making achievements to prove to the world that they are a great school Always working from the inside to fix the external perception of it. Let's try to get this reward and that reward! It's alright I guess, but I'd say truly wonder why you lack school spirit within the student body.. Why nobody goes to the games, why a lot of people say all they wanted to do was get in, do it, and get out. Maybe once you figure that out, you'll figure out why a lot of students dislike being there. I'm not going to go out and say that it's terrible and what not, but maybe, for the future of what Hinkley will be, figure out why it is you have that issue. Make them proud within. Make them proud to be a thunderbird. Not because the rest of the world sees them as a performance school, but because they know what they are capable of, and what they ARE DOING. Recommendation to the teachers, if you see a student that is struggling, help them. Don't just give up. My perception of it used to be that they were just lazy, but no. SOME (not all) are getting smacked right in the face by life. To APS, QUIT disallowing teachers to tell students their stories or at least quit making them robots."
"This is the worst school i have ever attended, very unorganized and complicate everything, they have problems with the pipes in the school and the whole place smells like a unflushed toilet! Students are hopeless, and teachers give up on us. This school is about safety not education! Every teen that goes here acts like a 6th grader, no joke! The whole school has rated our class of 2017 the worst the school has ever seen. Buses are a no go, they only have 4 of them in the whole school, and if you live over 2 miles they wont even try, these buses are not even there's they are cherry creek school buses. So technically this school have no buses at all! I cant believe people would be rating this school a 5! If you have a choice between this school and another, make this your last choice, unless of cores its gateway, or any other Aurora School. This school is the definition of ghetto. When i went to the first foot ball game, kids were pissed because the wheels on there bikes got stolen while the game was going on! And on top of that, i don't even think this school has a health class, which doesn't help that 1 out of 2 classes has at least 1 pregnant teen. To my surprise drugs are not a big problem here, the whole school is crawling with security, that just sit outside the school. The outside of this school look great but when you walk through the halls and classes you can tell they missed a lot when they refurbished the place. Overall NOT a great school. Iv gone to more then one and so far this is THE worst of been to, cant wait to leave."
"Went there jr. and sr. year they almost didn't transfer my credits from cherry creek schools because they didn't understand the transfer system from a different district. It's a good school for the most part if you start there as a freshman and go all four years. I would say they don't have a solid class placement if you're coming from a different school because they throw you off; for example they'll tell you " you have to take these and those classes before you graduate" but they don't really care what year you take it they just try to pass as many students as they can so therefore it's not a solid year by year build up and it could really mess up your ACT scores and such because by the time you're in your junior year you'll have taken random classes with seniors or even freshman and sophomores and you wouldn't have taken the necessary classes your junior year to be fully prepared to take a junior assessment. The teachers were okay. The food choices were usually junk and occasionally burnt."
"Graduated in 2011 and had a great experience. The teachers and administrators sincerely care about your education and future. Lots of great programs and activities to participate in. School is very diverse which made it fun!"
"As this is the school I graduated from, I have some input about it. Although I graduated in 2001, I thought Hinkley to be an ok school. The teachers were sincere and the students were great. And I know they had a good basketball team as well. Educational wise was not bad."
