Reviews of Denver Center For International Studies
"I have officially been at Denver center for international studies for three years and I only have love for this school. The climate is so friendly. The teachers are so kind (except for the French teacher, sadly, but hopefully we’ll get a new French teacher soon). Personally I believe I would not have been able to make it through middle school without some of my teachers. The teachers want you to thrive and they know what’s best for you. Now for the students at the school, they’re also great. Don’t get me wrong all schools have their bad apples but at DCIS the “bad apples” don’t distract from the truley friendly climate of DCIS. I have made so many friends throughout my three years and I would say there’s not really any cliques at DCIS, which I’m so thankful for because at my elementary school there were a ton. Also, parents, if you have a concern about your middle schooler being at a school with high schoolers there’s nothing to worry about. I have made so many good friends ranging from 6th graders to seniors. Now overall if your child wants to go to a big school I would not reccomend DCIS for them but for kids who like smaller schools or don’t have a preference I highly recommend DCIS, it’s a truley caring, diverse and inclusive school! (By the way travel options here are great!)"
"My daughter is presently an 8th grader at DCIS. To say her experience since 6th grade has been transformative would be an understatement. She has thrived in an environment that encourages creativity, student voice and a fluency in cultural and global issues. The school did struggle over the past few years as it transitioned from an all-application school to an open enrollment school, but this year is going great and my daughter couldn't be more thrilled with her teachers and her classes and the amazing clubs and activities she is able to experience."
"I can't wait for this school year to be over. It's my son's very first year at this school and I chose this school because I thought due to all the diversity and culture/language options, it would be good for him. I was wrong my son has had nothing but problems and yes I do hold him responsible for his actions but I also find the teachers to be unfair and stigmatizing. You mess up once then it's expected of you to keep messing up. And the Japanese teacher is no help or care or concern for students needs with such a difficult language what so ever."
"This is a very stupid school there is no athletic programs, no arts programs or proper funding for electives. Most of the teachers are unhelpful and do not provide much of a learning environment for students. The computers and technology are crappy. There is a huge clique problem where there is always exclusivity amongst the students. I came into this school in 7th grade and I spent all of 7th grade completely alone with absolutely no friends because nobody bothered to include me. Things turned around in 8th grade but it really hurt me.Some of the best friends I've ever had came to this school, but still DO NOT ENROLL at this school if you value your education. The classes are worthless"
"DCIS provides the opportunity to experience different learning opportunities and many opportunities to go past their comfort level. This school is a place where kids go to have new experiences and to have an opportunity to go to a school that is perfect for any kid who loves to learn foreign languages, join clubs, and interact with people of all different ages!"
