"I am overwhelmingly proud of being a teacher at this school. It has been a joy to get to know our community and students. At times we can seem a little rough around the edges but I love teaching at a school that has such freedom in the teaching realm. This school has pushed me to think outside of the box, challenged my perceptions of culture and the way we should learn and has blessed me with students that will forever be “ my students”. Fail Fast and Pivot!"
"i don't like it here it is stupid i get yelled at for doing my work early, they dont even let me read when i am done, the food sucks, and we get yelled at by the monitors for having fun, it seems illegal to have a good time at all i would not reccomend ever sending your child to this building for their education and safety. people are very racist sexist and they sexually harras people and dont get in trouble for it. if you want a good school for your child DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL."
"This school is very interactive, they make sure that everyone is collaborative and they try to bring everyone together. But, there is a lot of racism towards white students. 70%- 80% of the population is Mexican and Hispanic students. I was a 8th grade white student last year and have been attending this school for all middle school years and the hate, racism, and drug influence has significantly increased over time. Also, teachers have been lacking in perseverance and seem to give up when a student or two are not cooperating. I would not recommend this school, but as I said they focus on collaboration and teamwork."
"The previous review of teaching to the lowest level makes no sense after having my son there for a year. They must never actually volunteered or paid attention how the school functions. They break up the kids into smaller groups which each group works on their level. My son finished all his grade level of work then the next grade and was starting the next level after that. They never held him back and gave him access and resources for each level. There also was not any CORE curriculum at any level. Both my wife and I though volunteered (wife much more than myself since my work) and physically saw how the system works there. The saddest part is the lack of parent interaction with the child’s education we saw (but this can be true at any school). For example there was a great reading contest, but out of K-8 school, only 80 or so kids did it! There is huge amount of clubs covering all kind of interests for kids to do after school. The teachers really care about the education. I friends that did horrible at many other schools the did great at this school since they challenged the kids. I would highly recommend this school. The only reason I did not give five star is in ways I wish was a full charter vs a choice school (so less district control) and the cafeteria food is horrible (yeah, my son takes his lunches always now). They ARE a STEM school, with focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. So their music/art/sports are not as strong as other schools (so we have our son in Baseball leagues, huge art corner, and private music lessons). But from one year going to 2 grade levels above on reading and 1 grade level above on math, I can't complain."
"Horrible School, Please do not let your children go here. My daughter was being taught first grade material in 4th grade every week. The school seemed nice because of the Stem name , look closer, it's really a school to catch slow learners up and in the process regular kids and advanced students get stepped on and dumbed down to meet their Common core teaching curriculum goals. We are now home schooling to finish the semester and through the summer just to get our daughter caught back up to normal 4th grade level in most core subjects. This school should be closed . I hope more parents come forward ."
