"This place is the epitome of all that is wrong with 'healthcare' in our country. My 4 year old son was pulled by one arm out of a foam pit at the local gymnastics. He was clearly in a lot of pain and said it was from his wrist so my wife brought him in to be looked at. After waiting to be seen they were taken to a room where a nurse looked at him and they decided that x-rays should be taken. So the x-rays were taken and the technician said though they couldn't see any break they recommended casting the arm and gave us a referral. A doctor then came in and wrapped the arm in an ace bandage with a little plastic 'cup' around the elbow, they received the referral and were let go. A couple of days later they went and had the cast put on. We received the bills and because we're on an emergency plan we're pretty much responsible for all of it. In the details we noticed that the Hospital said the ER visit was moderate severity ($712.50) and then another bill came in from the doctor that wrapped the arm in ace bandage where the ER visit was high severity ($454.10). We called and asked about the differences and were told by 2 different people, 2 completely different ways the severities are ranked. Not to mention, why do we pay twice for the same ER visit? And what does the $712.50 cover because we had another charge coded, EMERGENCY ROOM that was another $358.15 on that same bill. When all was said and done we have $2466 in charges for going in to have an arm looked at, that received no diagnosis, just a 'we should do this out of caution', and multiple charges of varying amounts for the same things. I called and tried disputing the charges which was also a joke. Basically, they tell you that they will let 'the committee' know there is a dispute and they'll get back to you. So after the first disputed charges we received a letter in the mail that didn't address our questions at all but basically just said we looked at things and decided that the charges were correct. Thanks. Then I got on the phone and spoke with Rebecca Young, their Customer Service Supervisor, and explained everything and asked that the charges be disputed further. That was in December, and she said she would reach back out in January to let me know how it went. January came and went and we never heard from her. I called and left her a voicemail. Then February came and went, and I called and left her a voicemail. Then March came and I started calling and leaving voicemails weekly. At some point I was truly concerned that nobody was calling us back and we hadn't received anything in the mail so I just started calling other numbers I could find online and tried to get in touch with anyone that could let me know the status. Then I received a call from their Head of Patient Advocacy (I may be messing that title up) and she was very apologetic and kept in touch over the next 2 weeks while they sorted things out. Then on March 19th I finally heard back from Rebecca, only to hear that once again 'the committee' decided that the charges were appropriate. So there you have it. We don't know that his arm was broke because we couldn't tell anything from the X-rays we paid $270.15 for during our $358.15 EMERGENCY ROOM visit, which we paid an additional $712.50 for, which we paid an additional $454.10 to sit an office and have a $156.75 ACE bandage put on. Do everything you can to not end up in the hands of these crooks."
"(ER) department )Recently my daughter was sent to the ER,I would like to give a huge thank you to nurse Smedley for her outstanding and professional informative care for my daughter I recommend the highest promotion avaliable and or award givin she is a outstanding example of a MRH staff member that many could learn from thank you for making the visit present and worry aside making sure she had the best care avaliable and the reason we in the future will choose MRH FOR FUTURE MEDICAL ATTENTION"
"It's inconvenient. They make you check in 45 minutes early for radiology. Admissions is on the 2nd floor because the 1st floor is taken up with ridiculously fancy and over-priced food places, a barista, and things like that. All the corridors are windy to look fancy, but it's just very confusing for anyone who doesn't or can't read the signs. I'm lucky and am able to, but I can't imagine how hard it must be for some of the elderly people with fading eyesight. I much prefer the hospital in Delta."
"A recent trip for my family and I ended up with my dad having to come into the ER. They were pretty busy when we got there but they were able to get us triaged and taking care of testing while we waited for a room. The lady, Ashley, that checked us in at the front desk was an absolute doll. She made sure to let us, and everyone else know, they were doing their best to get us all cared for and was very attentive to some of the other people in the waiting room by grabbing ice packs and blankets. I have never seen someone show so much care outside of the nursing and doctor staff. We had Dr.Kevin and he was an absolute pleasure and made sure we knew and understood everything that was going on with my dad and truly treated us like old time friends/family. Our nurse, Laura, was also the sweetest person even though she was very busy and seemingly exhausted but she didn't skip a beat. I wish we had this experience back at home but we will definitely remember our visit to Montrose Hospital. Thank you to the staff we had the pleasure of meeting. You guys rock! My dad is doing fantastic, the altitude just seemed to wanna be tough on him."
