"My niece and nephew had attended la petite academy. As of recently my sister decided to pull them from this facility. Previously to this decision my sister had addressed multiple concerns to the director Chantelle, regarding her son and the way they would try to “discipline” him in their care. She was always told her son had a bad day, or he was misbehaving. When she would ask what happened or what the situation was, nothing was ever verbally communicated. They would end up my sliding her a piece of paper with no explanation.. this is the parent to this child why don’t they get an explanation? My niece, who is 6 years old, would come home telling my sister how they would respond to “bad” behavior, most of the time it was tight grip of the wrist and aggressive language… and that’s NO way to handle a non verbal two year old or any child in the matter of fact. My question is are any of the supervisors certified or licensed in child care and or development? I personally was a summer camp teacher. In order to be fully accept to said job I had to take multiple courses under the Colorado institute of education in order to even be able to be a teacher/supervisor of a class of kids. Do they know they legally CANT be alone with a child? Do they know that parents have a right to cameras, and updated information if needed or asked? Did you know if anything happens to the child even a bowel accident is supposed to be documented and reported on paper? I haven’t seen any of that. It’s very unprofessional and these parents have rights to know anything of their well being."
"My child was only here for a few days before I withdrew him. On the camera live feed, I observed one of my child's teachers putting a blanket over his head to try to get him to go to sleep. He kept pulling it down (probably so he could breathe), but she kept putting it back on. This is not safe! A blanket should never be placed over a child's head, no matter how old they are. Besides this, I found it strange that they keep the light on during nap time in one of the toddler rooms. The director said the state required them to do this because the room was too dark without light. But I have been to many other daycares where dark rooms weren't an issue. How else are they supposed to sleep? There also seemed to be a lot of kids in every room. Way more than any other daycare I have been to. The parking lot is tiny and cramped. Not enough space for the amount of traffic that comes in and out. I would avoid this place."
"Don’t bring your kids here. Went to pick up my nephew and one of the teachers were changing a little girls diaper while she was standing up and teacher was sitting down, in front of everyone. She literally had her privates out in front of the kids. So unprofessional. On top of that has a scratch on his face and they don’t know why"
"Grateful for the love and care that the teachers have shown my son since his first day. They helped him adjust and ensure his days are full of fun. I can truly drop my son off with peace of mind knowing he is in great hands."
"I am a single dad who needed help after a contentious divorce. The staff at La Petite Academy Illiff have helped me maintain my busy work schedule. In doing so, they've also helped me maintain 50/50 custody of my son. Additionally, the care, curriculum, and nutritional arrangements exceeded my expectations. I am grateful and plan to continue bringing my son for several more years. Thank you so much to all involved."
