"Bayfield High School is by far the most ineffective and careless school when it comes to the issues and procedures regarding bullying. If I could rate Bayfield High School (BHS) any lower, I would. This school deserves no stars. BHS continuously gets reports daily about the bullying that occurs in everywhere in the school, yet doesn't acknowledge or remedy a single aspect of it. A person I know, after getting tired of making reports and seeing no action being taken, finally decided to write a letter to the school with serious concern of the bullying happening to their friend constantly. They wrote the letter to Bayfield High School explaining the bullying and how they have made multiple reports and everyday their friend would still be getting tormented, called names and pushed into by the same bullies. This person's concerns got much worse when, three months later, after they wrote the letter to the school, they got beat up in the middle of the hall by a bully whom they wrote the letter about that was bullying their friend. It has been another month since this person has gotten beaten up and they are still stalked at Bayfield High School by the same bully who hurt them in the halls so easily. It is obvious that Bayfield High School is very unconcerned and inconsiderate when it comes to making students feel safe and actually motivated to learn and even show up to school."

"If I could give this school lower than 1 star I would. My experience there before I graduated was absolutely awful. Not only was I constantly bullied and ridiculed, the staff did nothing to fix the situation. Even many years later after I graduated I am still hearing of children getting so severely bullied they are wanting to drop out and worse. Someone in my family who is attending the school now is in the same situation. Letters have been written, police have been involved and teachers have been informed. However, nothing has been done to remedy it and all this makes me and many others to believe is this school actually ENCOURAGES bullying with the lack of actions being made. I am sick to my stomach knowing this is still going on. How are children supposed to feel safe and be encouraged to learn when it's not even a safe place for them to be? I think it's time to get this in check before children stop showing up altogether, or worse. Get it together."

"This used to be a great school that my daughter graduated from 2 years ago. Last year most of the teachers, staff, and administrators quit and the void was filled with pretty much any longterm sub they could pull off the streets and "just get anyone in there" administrators. My son had 3 different math teachers last year, one of whom had to be fired for attacking students. If you love sports and don't care about a well rounded education you've found your school! Acres and acres of sports fields are available, costing tax payers millions of dollars while duel credit programs are basically nonexistent. If you ever dreamed of sending your kids to HS in West Texas, Congratulations this is your school! Bullying, a Dean of Students who lies constantly, and a principal who buries his head in the sand trying to keep his illusions rather than seek the truth are just a few gems you get when you force your child to attend this "school." If you truly care about a good education for your child drive them to Animas HS in Durango. Animas is the best school in our area if you care about your child's future. I really wish my son wouldn't have missed the cut off. Had I have known then what I know now, I would have pulled him from Bayfield in 9th grade. PS. Dropout rates have skyrocketed in the last 2 years. If that doesn't tell you more about the school than my warning, I'm sure BHS would suit your child."
