Powder Tools

"I'm writing this review to explain why I will not be returning to this shop as a customer, unless there is a change in management, due to something I witnessed recently. I have been a customer here at the Steamboat Powder Tools for a couple years now. I've bought bindings, boots and I bring my snowboard here to get tuned. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, and I have felt welcome here in the past but I no longer do. On Sunday, February 25th I witnessed the shop manager Bernie berate and yell obscenities at an employee in front of the entire store. The employee was calm and trying to talk to Bernie about what sounded like a scheduling mix up and he responded by yelling loudly multiple times to 'Get the **** out of my store!" and "Your face is going to piss me the **** off!". It was incredibly unprofessional, disrespectful and frankly embarrassing to see the manager act in such a way in front of the entire store. Other employees were visibly uncomfortable and I feel bad that they have to work there. If that is how he acts in the public facing part of the store, I can only imagine how he treats his employees behind closed doors. So I will no longer be returning to Steamboat Powder Tools as long as Bernie is employed there, as I do not wish support a company that allows such an abusive and toxic environment. I hope for the employees' sake that there is a change in the management."

"I came in to replace an old pair of snowboard boots. This place had a good selection (k2, ride, Salomon, thirtytwo, etc.) and I would recommend it to any snowboarders looking for new gear. David worked with me on a boot fitting, he was extremely personable and knowledgeable, highly recommend him to help you find your next boot! He brought out multiple pairs of boots based on my foot and had me try them on and thoughtfully listened to my feedback. He was great about providing me with the right options without pressuring me too much, perfect experience. Overall we did find a boot I loved but unfortunately the size wasn’t in stock and I was leaving town before they could get it in, maybe a little late in the season to have all sizes in stock (late Feb). Shout out to David for an awesome experience!"

"Bernie and team are great. It’s the only place to go for snowboarding needs in Steamboat. They’ve kept the valley equipped and dressed with the best stuff for as long as I can remember. They’re knowledgeable, friendly, and supportive. Doesn’t matter if you’re a first-timer, kid, tourist, or local/regular."

"Super helpful shop. They had a lot of variety to look through. I have a hard time finding boots that fit right. They were able to discuss my options really well and even though they didn’t have the right size they helped me learn what I needed to look for and were super chill about it all even though they didn’t get a sale. I even noticed how they handled other customers which was very professional and helpful getting them the boots they needed and a drink while they waited for their boots to get heat treated. Would definitely recommend."
