"Interesting selection and cool store. Hilariously overpriced but I won't fault them for that since it's a tourist town. The owner was very pushy and very rude and kept interrupting when I was trying to browse and talk to my wife. At one point I was talking to her about buying something and he yells across the room that we "have to pay for it". Anyway look around this store because it's cool and then purchase whatever you find somewhere else. Except the Arkansas sharpening stones, those are well priced and a high quality item."
"Fantastic experience and lot of knowledge shared by the men behind the counter! Very friendly and willing to help and answer any questions! Found exactly what I was needing at Very reasonable prices. I'm from out of state, but will definitely shop here again!!"
"Top notch place. Outdoorsman dream. BTW. You can't return a black powder rifle anywhere !! It's illegal !! A safety issue. To the guy that posted crying about no returns. Do your homework. Just saying. Plus this is a turist town everything is a bit higher."
"I would give this business zero stars but the app wouldn't let me. Avoid this business at all cost! They are very unethical and do not stand behind their business. They don't allow returns which is not stated anywhere in the store, and they don't even give you a receipt unless you request one. They also do a 100% markup on a lot of their merchandise. Let’s get into the situation that is currently going on as I type this. My wife and I spent a good day shooting a variety of guns up by Hartsel, CO with our friends who currently hunt with black powder rifles. We were testing some of their rifles and we enjoyed the process. We decided that we would look into getting some black powder rifles and try to go hunting next year with them. My friend took us to Mountain Man Store in Manitou Springs, CO to look at some hardware. While we were there, we actually found two rifles we really liked so we decided to go ahead and purchase them. Clint was pretty knowledgeable during the process and got us set up with what he thought we needed to get started. One of the black powder rifles went for $1,000 which is a little high for a black powder rifle but it was nice. The other one was listed for $1,072 which turns out was twice as much as what many other places were selling it for. It was a Traditions Mountain 50 cal. My wife’s was a Traditions Pennsylvania 50 cal. That one was sold for around $900 most everywhere else. A lot of the other accessories were priced right minus the powder measure, that was almost twice as expensive as anywhere else. With all that being said, I wouldn’t even have looked into all this had it not been for not getting a receipt. I was pretty torqued to say the least when I found out what I paid for my rifle versus what the price was most everywhere else I looked. We decided to take it back to the store the following day to return it, but we took everything in case we ended having to return everything due to no receipt. We drove back to the store and tried talking to Ron about our situation. He flat out told us that they don’t do returns, but nowhere did it state that throughout the store. I then said we would just have to return all of what we bought them and dispute it through the credit card company. He would not budge, and we were forced to return everything. They refused to give us a receipt it any documentation that we returned the items. We went out to the car to start the dispute, and we were gone for maybe 10 minutes. I then said we should go get pictures of the items to have proof that we left them there. When we went back in, Ron had already put the rifles back on the wall and started putting all the items back to be sold again! We got an email from Affirm three days later stating they needed proof of the return. My wife reached out to them today, and talked to Clint. He said they couldn’t accept returns according to the ATF. This is bucksnort, and my wife said “why do you have all the items back on the shelf then”. Clint denied that they put the rifles back on the wall. This is a lie because we did get a picture of them back on the wall. Clint refused to give us any proof we returned all the items, so we have to take further measures to protect our credit and money. All at the same time they try to sell items again that have already been paid for. They’re double dipping, and they are the most unethical company I’ve dealt with in my life. I would stay clear of this place if you don’t want to be ripped off."
"Frontier store filled with western gear; knives, black powder, books, furs, hats, and other period pieces. Several patterns for sewing authentic period clothing and some great value. Kurt was super helpful and engaging. Love learning about history and he was very willing to share stories and expierences."
