Reviews of The Home Depot
""Embarking on a DIY project can be daunting, but my recent visit to Home Depot made me feel like a seasoned pro. This wasn't my first time shopping at Home Depot, but it was the first time I really needed in-depth guidance on a project. I was looking to refresh my living room and kitchen but wasn't sure where to begin. Thankfully, Home Depot became more than just a store to me; it became a source of inspiration and confidence. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly staff, who immediately asked what project I was undertaking. After explaining my situation, they directed me to the paint department, where I met a knowledgeable associate. This person didn't just point me toward the paint swatches; they took the time to discuss color schemes, paint finishes, and even gave me tips on how to achieve the best results. What impressed me the most was the associate's suggestion to check out their workshops. Home Depot offers free in-store workshops for customers looking to improve their DIY skills. I attended a workshop on interior painting and another on installing kitchen backsplashes. These sessions were game-changers, providing me with the skills and confidence to tackle my project head-on. The store's selection was as impressive as its service. I found everything I needed for my renovation, from high-quality paints to trendy kitchen tiles, all under one roof. The prices were competitive, and I took advantage of a sale, which saved me a significant amount on my total purchase. But it wasn't just the products and prices that made my experience remarkable—it was the palpable sense of community. Between the helpful staff and the fellow DIY enthusiasts I met at the workshops, I felt supported throughout my entire project. Home Depot fosters a community of people eager to help and learn from each other, making DIY projects less intimidating and more enjoyable. In reflection, Home Depot exceeded all my expectations. It provided not only the materials I needed but also the guidance, education, and encouragement to complete my project successfully. My living room and kitchen look incredible, thanks to the high-quality products and the tips I received. I'm already planning my next project, and there's no question that I'll be returning to Home Depot for both resources and inspiration. For anyone standing on the brink of a home improvement project, unsure of their next step, I wholeheartedly recommend a trip to Home Depot.""
"I’ve used Home Depots color matching paint service for years without any issues. However, in the past two weeks I’ve dealt with 5 separate instances leading to me never coming to this location ever again. 1. I asked for a gallon of a Benjamin Moore color that I had sampled and the colors were completely different. I ended up liking the gallon color better so let it slide. 2. A few days after the first instance, I tried to get a gallon of another BM color and was told that they don’t do color matching unless someone has previously requested it. I explained that I’ve done that for years and was looking to request that color, as others have apparently done in the past. After a few minutes of back and forth I gave up and went Ace and spent twice as much as I would have if the paint department just did their job. 3. After doing a remodel in our living room, I needed to touch up a number of areas. I requested the same color and sheen previously used only to discover that yet again, they were two different colors. I ended up having to buy another gallon and repaint the entire room. 4. I had ordered a separate gallon of paint during my first visit which also did not match the sample. Since it had been purchased a few weeks prior, I was delayed in realizing this. Given the track record of this store, I went to go the Glendale location, explained the situation, and was met with the kindest and most patient employee. He showed me where the Lakewood store had messed up when putting in the order and agreed to exchange the wrong gallon for the correct gallon at no additional cost, given the other store had clearly messed up and he understood why I didn’t want to go to them again. 5. This evening, I went to paint my final project only to realize that yet again, the sample and the gallon did not match. I went to this store where it was purchased and was told by the manager that they would not replace the gallon with the correct color, as the policy is that tinted paint is non refundable. When I reiterated that this was not the first time I’ve faced this, she said that they put a small dot of paint on the lid so customers can verify it’s the correct color. I showed her the dot on the gallon vs the sample and to the naked eye, they were very close and that there was no reasonable way for me to know it was incorrect. She said that there was nothing they could do and refused to replace the gallon I paid for with the correct product. I even offered to give them the gallons purchased back since it was of no use to me. While I understand policy, this a) was not my fault, b) there was nobody else in the store so it would not have been an inconvenience to replace, and c) I’m pretty sure a big box store like Home Depot could spare the $50 replacement gallon for a mistake on their end. As a director of sales myself, I could not fathom why this manager would not even attempt to resolve this situation beyond citing “policy.” I am beyond livid at the poor quality of service and complete incompetence of this location. Long story short, I’ve spent a few hundred dollars and a lot of time in the past two weeks on products that did not match what I was told it was. On principle, I’ll never return to this location and advise anyone who values quality work and accountability to take their money elsewhere."
"The store itself is managed pretty well. I really like that they have the concrete close to the door and they have flat carts right next to the concrete so it's really quick and easy. The thing I don't like is there are a lot of folks in the parking lot that are not customers. Some are homeless, many of them are people trying to pick up work. The problem with this is the guys trying to pick up work will sneak up behind you and try to ask if you need help. I am comfortable going to the store by myself, but I would not send my wife by herself. How to fix it: make a designated area where the workers can stand, that is a long ways away from the front door. Do not allow loitering throughout the parking lot."
"The timing for a snow shovel to break and somehow stores around the area be missing all kinds of snow equipment. The place is jam-packed with holiday stuff currently, so much that a few walkways are hard to navigate if people occupy it with a cart for too long. Also having to find a tool I am looking for is in short supply and the ones offered sound hollow and untrustworthy to endure heavy use. Then there is the services, which seemed to only be all the way on the other side. Exhausting visit for a tiny dude like myself."
