Reviews of OCC Brewing and Restaurant
"If I could go zero, I would. I went online and found this place to be one of the best places for food and drink. It had high reviews. When I arrived, I parked on Colorado at a meter. I used the park-mobile app which costed $2.44 for an hour and a half. When we entered, we were greeted by Cameron who was standing behind the bar with two patrons. There was no one else inside the establishment. It was self seating and we chose to sit just to the left of the entrance. A short time later Cameron came over and provided both the food and drink menus. For drinks, I ordered the Paloma and my wife ordered the Rye OCC fashioned. To eat, I ordered the Bahn Mi sandwich with a side of regular fries. My wife ordered the OCC burger with a side of regular fries. We got our drinks first at a decent amount of time after ordering. My first sip and it overpowered my palette with grapefruit with a strong squeeze of either lime juice or a couple of limes. I didn’t get a taste of the tequila or the bubbly water that was supposed to be in it. My wife’s Rye OCC fashioned was okay but it was served in a dirty glass. It had a decent taste but not your typical old fashioned. Let’s just say we left both our drinks on the table when we left. We received our food and the bread to my Bahn Mi sandwich was already soaked and spongy. I took a bite and the chicken was definitely frozen. It had a horrible taste and the chicken was not tender nor did it have flavoring. The sauce that was used, dripped out of the sandwich after each bite. My wife’s burger was flavorless and very dull. There was no “catch” when biting into this burger. It wasn’t dry and had a good moist to it. Our waiter Cameron never came to check on us so, I could not give him a review of how everything ended. The only time he came over was after someone else (a female) picked up our plates and it was time for our check. The price for what you get is a little extreme. There needs to be more tweaks to make this place worth the price. I definitely won’t be back and will not recommend our friends or associates."
"UPDATE: a few weeks later. Updated from a 5 star review to a 1. And I have to say nothing was like the first time aside from us sitting outside with a great view. The service was horrible. Extremely long wait for the food that when finally arrived the fries were limp. So not impressed on this visit. The mini bison burger was meh at best too, it looked so delicious but was a real letdown. (Pictures added). One of the mimosa glasses was disgustingly dirty too. (Pictured) I know someone just responded from the business to my post, so I hope they see this update. From the 2 visits my biggest take away? Inconsistency. And I don't think I'd give them the time of day again anytime soon after that last visit. 1st visit: It is a great spot just before the busy of Old Colorado City. The downstairs outside seating provided a lovely view of Pikes Peak as I enjoyed my Mimosa flight of bubbly, yummy, fruit flavors. My companion enjoyed his vodka cran cocktail. So yes the drinks are good. We also had a side of their, what appeared to be home-cut fries. The Pueblo Chili Jam used throughout the menu enticed my tastebud's further and I got a side to dip the fries in. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Do not be discouraged if you can't find parking just swing around to the backside of the building where they have a shared parking lot. The service was great, prompt, friendly. We will be returning for the fries, Pueblo chili jam and to explore more of the menu as we sit on the rooftop when the weather is warmer. (Missed it this time)."
"At the time they only offered 5 beers, so ordered a flight of their 5. The place is a good vibe, the staff is friendly, food comes out reasonably quick, beer is good. Thursday nights at 6:30 they have Trivia. They are dog friendly, not sure if they can come inside, the few sets that I seen all choose to sit outside. They do have rooftop seating as well. It’s a good stop before heading back into town or heading up to WP."
"This was our first experience at OCC Brewing. Drinks first- excellent. We had an IPA and a winter ale, and both were excellent. The gin cocktail I ordered was perfectly balanced- not too sweet, with a nice tang to it. We tried the poutine appetizers and it’s the best poutine I’ve had. I love the tangy pickled cabbage on top of a nice salty and savory sauce and perfectly cooked fries. If we had added the optional pulled pork this could have been a meal. We also ordered the pork dip and the banh mi sandwiches. The pork dip is something I’ll come back for! I love that lavender horseradish, and the au jus was delicious. The banh mi was really nice too. The dill-seasoned fries and ranch dip were worthy of ordering on the side or solo just as a snack- A unique flavor I’ve never had before! OCC loses a few stars for quite long wait times for food and drink and a few basic service oversights. The table was not wiped down when we arrived, we weren’t given plates to go with the appetizer, and we had to request napkins and utensils. The service was very friendly, and they seemed short-handed so we didn’t make an issue of it. Still, some basics like giving us plates for our appetizer shouldn’t have been missed. This may be picky, but the overhead fluorescent lights were a bit obnoxious and too bright. Perhaps some kind of shade or covering is in order? Otherwise, the space was great and the local artwork on the walls is a nice touch. We will definitely be back for the excellent food and drink and the friendly wait staff."
"Wow! Yummy, gorgeous, and healthy food, and Beer is WOW!!! Fun time playing Bingo too. Great atmosphere. I think I just found my new favorite Brewery in Colorado Springs! We enjoyed Nothing Burns Like the Cold Beer, Beet & Apple Salad, Miso Carrot Ginger Bisque, and Opa's Brat Sandwich, (photos). How is food so colorful, beautiful and Yummy?!?! They nailed it!!!"
