"I feel like I’ve left a review before but I love it so much, I’ll leave another. Helga’s has been near and dear to my family’s heart. Oma (a little old 5’ lady from Stuttgart) was so happy her first visit — especially with the authentic German selections in the Deli. Helga’s was the first place my family ate after she passed to feel a little closer to her now that we couldn’t have her cooking anymore. This was in April 2023 and so strange that in the midst of the polkas, a Christmas song played, in April. Her favorite holiday. We love that it’s a mom and pop place, the food is authentic, the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, the staff are charming, and the chef is amazing. Thank you, Helga’s! Pictured: the vegetarian plate with the german pancakes and applesauce (seriously everything is so good, we don’t just eat vegetarian but when you’re craving so many sides, this is the go-to!)"

"Great food and ambiance. Glad we “go local” as much as possible and Helga’s was a win. The only shortfall (which was minor) was service as we were being served by the bartender, who also was assigned a large group of 12 while taking care of bar, and other tables. Wait times were extended because of this. Wish we had this level of authenticity in San Antonio. For 30+ years I have failed to find something this good and true to its origins. I recommend a stop by to relax and enjoy."

"Not only was this the best German food I’ve had - the food here was better than many restaurants in town. The staff is so warm and friendly, real German music playing and it really feels like you’re in Germany. If you’ve never tried German - give this place a chance! The food is really not so terribly different than American fare. Try this place you will not be disappointed. Pictured here is the sampler platter w schnitzel, knackwurst, purple cabbage and fried potato dumplings. This is my new favorite place to eat!!"
