"I just had an amazing experience here. We sampled a couple of appetizers and 4 sandwiches, and it was all perfection. Light and flavorful, served with a smile by the chef/owner who was delightful. Small and unassuming, this is EXACTLY the type of place I'm always looking to find. We'll be back soon!!"
"Deli style local spot with limited seating inside and a decent sized, enclosed, covered patio. The decor was busy and a little disheveled, but clean. I think they have a lot going on there as I believe they do a lot of catering business as well. Crispy yet tender pork cutlets, fresh diced veggies and flovorful seasonings did not disappoint with the pastor torta/porchetta. Fries were on par with McDonalds fries, but fresh, meaning they're exceptional. I went with the plain salted fries but will try the seasoned ones next time. This was an amazing sandwich at a great price. I did the meal with fries and a bottle of Mexican Coke. Although I scanned the table tent for the menu and it tells you to order, and pay through your phone (no app needed), I just gave my order to AJ (owner) and paid cash. It was slow so Im not sure if that's always an option but AJ was a gracious and kind host so I'm sure if you ask nicely, it's nbd."
"The Best!! Chef Michael is obviously a classically trained master of the kitchen. He is a polite soft spoken chap who runs a tight ship. Things are done simple and correctly. Execution is impeccable and the kitchen sanitary, always. FYI - SPICES CLOSES AROUND THE HOLIDAYS The Chef operates a catering business and the holidays see him devoting the small restaurant space to that business. More power to him!! Despite brief disappointment when breakfast plans have to be changed, his hustle cannot be denied. The SPICES menu is a basic breakfast & lunch fare done correctly. Every. time. HIGHLY recommend the breakfast Croissant sandwich add AVO or a protein. Trust. I worked a block from SPICES for years. Got to know the Chef... This review is long overdue as his little eatery is a Diamond in the rough that is Colfax."
"My favorite breakfast spot in Denver gets overlooked for trendier establishments. It's also easy to overlook this place given that the building it's in is packed with other businesses and just when you think you've found them all, there's another. The entrance to Spices is on Humboldt. There's some outdoor seating and indoors exist both tables and a counter. Grab a menu when you walk in and order and pay at the register. They'll bring you your food, wherever you choose to sit. I've never had a bad meal here. Some key things that I love: 1. The classical music. They always play classical and I love it. 2. The hashbrowns. They are hand shredded, never frozen, and always amazing. 3. The crowd, or lack thereof. I want this place to do well, so I won't complain too hard if this changes, but so far every time I've visited it's been really pleasant and chill. 4. The service is always friendly and fast. We used to live in walking distance and now we don't at all. I'm happy they've survived the pandemic this far. If you haven't tried this place, do it. You'll get a nice meal in pleasant environment and that's a lot, in my book."
"A small cafe tucked in a corner, with simple but good food. Expected the space to be larger, but without the patio being available during colder months, the indoors space is actually not that big. Tried the croissant sandwich and was impressed at how fresh the components were. The side of pancakes were not bad but not as fluffy as they looked. Drip coffee was a bit too bitter for me. I recommend coming for their fresh offerings like eggs, french toast, etc. It's worth noting that the price is generous given the quality of food, and I would recommend Spices Cafe as a casual breakfast/brunch spot."
