Reviews of Manning's Steaks and Spirits
"We went for the first time the day after Valentine's. All of the waitstaff were very friendly. We ordered their couples special which was a great value for the amount of food you got! However, we barely got our drinks before the salad came out and then just a couple minutes later all of the other mains and sides came out at the same time. On one hand, fast service! But on the other hand, for a sit down dining experience, the timing felt rushed. Steaks were done perfectly, but lacked flavor. Would recommend getting an add on like a sauce or topping. The au gratin potatoes and asparagus sides were OK - pretty buttery/oily. When it was time for dessert, we were told the skillet cookie would take 10-12 minutes. We probably waited 15-20 min, but it was delicious! When the bill came, we were charged for 2 items we never ordered, but the waitress handled it like a pro and got it taken care of. As others have mentioned, the acoustics are poor - cement walls with some sound panels, so we were ready to go by the end of our 2 hour dining experience. Unfortunately, probably won't be returning; we were really hoping to like this place!"
"Place make a textbook steak. Cooked perfectly. The au gratin potatoes were fiiiiire. Cheesy, creamy, and a nice cheese crust on top. Bacon cheesecake was a great concept. Wish the bacon was crunchy not chewy. Nom"
"Disappointed. Crazy prices. Chose Mannings for my birthday dinner. Atmosphere is industrial and nothing that would reflect the high end prices. Our waitress was cheerful and brought two small glasses of water when she came to greet us and bring menus. I ordered the crab cake appetizer as my entree, my husband ordered a bone-in ribeye. I said I’ll just have water to drink and I should have asked for a regular size glass of it. The food came out in an appropriate amount of time and smelled amazing. The crab cakes were plenty to make a small meal of but they were room temperature. I didn’t say anything because I knew if I asked for them to be heated up, my husband would stop eating until I had my food back. I began finding crab shell in about every other bite. This combined with them not being an appetizing temperature had me struggling to eat them. My water, however was long gone. I had finished my husband’s water and we were sharing my husband’s tea by the time our waitress had a chance to check on us. The steak was delicious and cooked just a little under, but not worth $75 in any stretch of the imagination. On what planet does a $75 steak not come with a side? Add a baked potato for $8??? Asparagus another $8????. My crab cake appetizer was $23. We decided to get dessert elsewhere and asked for the check. I just had no expectation that whatever dessert was would be worth what this place charges for it. We will stick with T Street or Ted’s Montana in the future."
"I've been wanting to try Manning's for a couple years. My wife and I got drinks at happy hour and she was happy with her white wine and I was happy with my margarita. We did not get appetizers. For the main dish I got the ribeye with augratin potatoes and hollandaise sauce and she got the fiery jalapeno burger. My wife really enjoyed her burger and fries were very good. My ribeye was cooked very well and the augratin potatoes were good, not amazing. My steak was good but nothing special. There are a couple reasons for only three stars. The first is they don't give you any bread before your meal which seems surprising for a steakhouse. And second, but most importantly, it's just too expensive. My ribeye with hollandaise sauce was $43 and her burger was $17. Plus drinks and tip and we were in the $90 range easily. For that price, I needed to be blown away and I just was not. If I had paid $60 for that meal, that would have been fair and probably five stars but that wasn't the case and I'm bummed to say so. I will continue to go back to my normal steakhousewhere I feel like I get better value and enjoy the steak/meal more. *Google really needs to update the price from $$ to $$$."
"We went for an early dinner arriving around 4:30 with no reservations. We were promptly seated in the main dining area, which was quiet to start, but as more guests arrived, the noise level increased to the point that it was hard to have a conversation with my husband. The acoustics are terrible, creating sound reverberations making super hard to hear. The main dining room chairs are super uncomfortable, and there are very limited booths. If you go sit in the patio area where the high tops have padded seats. The happy hour specials are great and appropriately priced. Would highly recommend going earlier to snag some of those deals. For the appetizer we ordered the PEI mussels which had a great flavor, wish it would have came with more than two small pieces of bread to dip in the sauce. My husband had the 10oz filet mignon that comes with one side, so we got the and bechamel macaroni and cheese...which was excellent mac & cheese! The filet mignon was a bit overcooked and had a burnt/singed taste on the outside. I ordered the seafood Newburg, and it comes with a side salad as pictured. The seafood dish had an excellent taste profile and tons of shrimp and scallops. We took home half my dish as we were stuffed. Overall, it was pretty decent food but disappointed in the uncomfortable chairs and noise level. Would go back and sit in a booth or patio hightop but not in the main dining area, and try a burger and fries they looked great."
