"My mom had purchased a couple $100 gift cards for Christmas last year and they each came with a promotional $20 gift card that she forwarded to me via email. There was zero information in the email about any sort of expiration date (since when do gift cards have an expiration date?) so imagine my surprise when it was time to handle the bill and I click through the email to open the gift card only to find that they had both expired months ago... I called and spoke with Lisa who explained that a refund would be "difficult" because it was a promotion used to increase post-holiday restaurant attendance. That all makes sense but the fact that there was zero information about that in the email shows a pretty significant lack of foresight on their part. She did end up sending me a $25 gift card to help out which was appreciated but still quite frustrating after a $130 tab at the restaurant. I understand that profit margins at restaurants are already razor thin but this whole ordeal left a sour taste in my mouth."

Yes, with every corporate group there can be shenanigans every now and then, but I have had a great overall positive experience.
