Reviews of Holiday Inn Denver East, an IHG Hotel
"Worst experience. It's disheartening that the brand is no longer what it used to be. Checked in late on 3/21 (around 11pm) and there was one front desk person, in the whole hotel, not counting their security guy who was not very presentable (no badge, uniform, just an off the street look). Once in room the shower water went from room temperature to cold. I called the front desk and she reassigned our room. Went downstairs and waited as she tried to deal with some confused guests who did not have their confirmation number. Seems like such poor planning to expect one person to be able to handle a hotel this size. Once in the new room I called downstairs to say Thank you to the front desk lady. I asked the individual who answered (male) the name of the other person, so I could address her by name, and he responded "It's Security" and hung up on me. I called back thinking it was a mistake (perhaps the call accidently disconnected) and he answered again, "I told him "I think the call disconnected ..." but before I could finish my sentence he responded" No I hung up, I work with security and am not a part of the hotel so you don't need my name" and again hung up. I was a bit shocked and tried to call again to clarify but he picked up the phone and put it off the receiver. I was left a bit speechless, all this just because I wanted to tell the front desk person Thank you. . The next day it was new staff and we rushed off in shuttle. When we called a few hours later and spoke to the front desk to request a shuttle pick up at around 1pm, they never showed (I'm sure the message was not relayed). This is definitely not the Holiday Inn from years back....total disappointment and will not be staying at this location again, definitely gives Denver a bad look. Customer Service is important and very much lacks at this location."
"I stayed here for two weeks and had a great stay. Clean comfy room with nice view of the mountains in the distance. The restaurant's food was pretty good too. I had a minor issue with my card at check in and the manager resolved it immediately. Great service!"
"The lobby smells like sewage. Really bad. It makes it difficult to wait in line to be checked in and the smell keeps you away from the hotel restaurant. My room smelled like cigarettes despite being non-smoking. The shower was dirty and didn't drain properly. The staff were nice. Mostly though the hotel sucks because of how bad it smells."
"Save yourself the frustration and book somewhere else. I am a rewards member with Holiday Inn Express and this was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at any hotel. The first indicator that the hotel was trash was the funky smell that hits you in the face as soon as you walk in the door. The only reason we stayed is because our flight had already been delayed 4 hours and we didn't feel like traveling all the way to Colorado Springs at 1am. Next is the customer service. I'm not saying that all employees are crazy but the one who checked us in was nuts. She had the nerve to quiz me on how to spell my name because she didn't think the name on my ID was my real name... WHAT??? I'm still trying to understand the logic behind that. We get to the room. It's more of a MOTEL than a HOTEL. The lights are yellow which gives the room a dingy look. Hotels should have warm lights and good smells, Right guys?!?! They say it's a nonsmoking hotel, but I don't think their guest really caught to the rules. Our shower was dirty, so we just washed off in the sink. The baseboards where filthy which is another indicator that the cleaning is subpar. Also, they double charged me for the room and kept my $50 deposit. I called today and was told that the double charge and deposit would be put back. Let's see how long that takes. Now for the good stuff... the sheets were clean and the rooms each have a private balcony. I would never stay at this location again."
"Worst hotel I've stayed in in a long long time. I booked my room on the app. I went to check in at the front desk and Daniel was rude and unkindly. I let him know that my family dropped me off so I didn't need the parking garage or the parking fee. Said he would take it off for me. Never did. I asked him if the view was decent from my room, he said I'll have to look and see. His customer service really just sucked. On top of that, my card was double charged for the entire price of the room with incidentals. Holiday Inn Customer Service said it takes a few days to post correctly but not to worry I won't be charged twice. The lock on my hotel room door didn't latch so it was hard to close the door and lock it. Overall, the design of the hotel was nice but that's where it ended. Customer service was horrible, the rooms were small despite how much you pay for a night, the bathtub didn't drain while taking a shower which is gross, and while I stay in a lot of hotels, I will be crossing this one off my list so I know not to pay anymore money for a negative experience."
