Reviews of Hyatt Place Denver / Westminster
"The front desk was very kind. The rooms were not as clean as it could have been, felt itchy and uncomfortable while sleeping in sofa bed. TV was not fully working, darkened screen and unable to chromecast. Bathroom door didn't work. Besides that it's your average Hyatt hotel, have stayed in better hotels for same price. Also smelled like weed in lobby and halls"
"Purpose & Length of stay: youth hockey games; 4 nights Positives: Location was awesome. We were 4 min away from the rink and other places like Target and Dave & Busters. Breakfast was pretty good and well stocked. We had fresh scrambled eggs each morning. Hotel was clean and the lobby was nice and roomy. The games in the lobby were a nice addition as well as the ice scrapers (I forgot mine and of course it snowed). Bed was comfy. We had a mini fridge and microwave. I prefer smaller hotels when traveling for tournaments so we're not waiting for the elevators too long. My kid enjoyed the pool and the gym looked nice. We had pleasant interactions with the desk, bar, and cleaning staff. Negatives: The walls were a bit thin but luckily our neighbors were respectful and the noise died down after a certain time. There was some highway noise as this location backs into the highway and there's no wall separating it from the highway. The walls and picture in the bathroom could use a cleaning (shower, toilet, and sink were clean). The door stopper on the wall kept falling off. I agree with previous reviews about the bathroom door. It would be ideal to have a lighter solid door so the light isn't bothering people sleeping. Also, the shower has this metal part right underneath the shower head. Once turned off, it gets a bit noisy with the water dripping, another thing that might interrupt the sleep of others. Overall, we had a nice stay over Thanksgiving here. I would stay here again."
"We traveled 10 hours (with three kids under age 8) to get to this hotel. We had cash in hand, and called beforehand to see if we would be able to pay cash for our 5 night stay. We were assured by a male clerk that it was acceptable as long as there was card information on file for the damage deposit of $150. My husband went to check-in at 4:00 PM on 11/21, and was advised by a male clerk that they weren't authorized to accept cash at check-in without manager approval, despite what we had just been assured by him over the phone. We were advised the card would just need to have enough on it for the damage deposit, not the entire stay. However, after running our card the male clerk said that their system, "wasn't registering our card as a card". My husband suggested that it wasn't registering as there was only enough on the card for the deposit, and not the whole stay as the rest we had in cash. He insisted that, "the amount in the account doesn't matter, it just puts a hold on it". He called over a female clerk who also couldn't figure it out. They then charged for one night as a test, which obviously worked. We were advised we could bring an alternate card the next day if we wanted, or could pay the rest in cash at check-out. The next day we went about our activities, and returned to the hotel around 9:00 PM. The same male clerk was there and greeted us as we entered. We went up to our room, and the key card no longer worked. We went back to the front desk to speak with a different female clerk, who said they needed information for a different card or the cash in full in order to access the room again. We stated we were advised the previous day that cash was not accepted until check-out. She stated they had spoken with their manager and had gotten approval, (but couldn't be bothered to call to let us know that in the 12 hours we were gone, or when we were greeted upon entrance that evening). I let them know how frustrating it is to get 3 different stories from 3 different people, how cash is not accepted at 4:00 in the afternoon but can magically be accepted at 9:00 in the evening. I also told them that you can't "put a hold" on money that doesn't exist in an account, since that's something they struggled with comprehending at check-in. I also expressed that it's frustrating that they need manager approval to accommodate part of the check-in process but don't have a manager on-site after check-in time starts. She stated she was, "sorry I was upset". We changed our hotel reservation to this hotel at the last minute because we had a good experience here previously, but I'm not so sure we'll be making the same choice next time since there seems to be a lack of job-related knowledge at the front desk."
"It was one of the best Hyatt places I have stayed. The room was large and clean. The hotel was fairly new. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept on. Front Desk and Restaurant service was excellent. The pool was very clean, as was the exercise room. The pool temperature was 85F, which is perfect. TV was easy to hook up computer HDMI to. The location with mountain views and jogging trail was excellent. Breakfast was okay, but I wish they had bacon one day. Overall, for a category 2 hotel, it was better than the category 4 hotel I stayed at last. This hotel is a great value for the price and would definitely return."
