Reviews of 24 Hour Fitness
"The reviews for this location were SO BAD that I simply HAD to see it for myself. As a lifelong food service professional, I know the power that reviews hold in our modern world. I also know it can give the microphone to people who just want to complain and be destructive for their own personal reasons. Having said that, this gym is HUGE, has all the equipment I ( an older dude who hasn't been to a proper gym in a while ) can possibly need, as well as amenities I will probably never use, but still awesome as an option. It's obvious this gym DID have issues at one point, but if I hadn't read the reviews prior to showing up, I wouldn't have noticed any of them. As a matter of fact, after AJ ( awesome front desk personality! ) handed me off to the GM to tend to multiple customers so I could take the tour, a member walked up and commented how great the bathrooms look and how well the attendant was doing to keep it clean. I presume this member was here BEFORE the GM changeover because he seemed relieved that changes were made. Regardless, the changes have obviously been made and are still improving. I must say, to me, the conditions in a gym would have to be very horrible for me to want to take a drive out of my neighborhood to go to another gym. I don't ask much from my gym other than clean weights and machines. Then again, I am NOT a young kid. I was not coddled and know what gyms USED to be like, so this gym is a friggin' paradise compared to the sweatholes I had to frequent in my High School days. Fitness and weight training have come a long way, and this 24 Hour Fitness has definitely stayed with the times. As always, this location is crowded. But a small amount of common sense will tell you why: It's the ONLY gym in the area, AND, yet ANOTHER massive apartment complex was added right next to the Beacon, presumably housing thousands of young, fitness-forward people whom probably don't want to use whatever limited equipment that may be available in those apartment high-rises, so they all work out at the closest "Proper Gym". You guessed it, THIS location. Sure, you can take the drive down 6th to Wadsworth to go to the competing gym, but if you think it's gonna be less crowded, you're kidding yourself. Unless gyms pop up with the frequency of Starbucks or Cannabis dispensaries in Lakewood we are going to have to deal with packed gyms. I know most of us don't like being around people anymore, but being in a crowded gym can be super motivating. Also motivating is the constant presence of trainers who are mostly jacked. The usual gym "attitudes and egos" don't seem to be here. Either that or their earbuds are so deep in their head that they have no time or attention span to tell people they're "doing that wrong" or to lurk over us wondering when we'll be done with our set. This 24 hour fitness location does exactly what a gym is supposed to do, at least, what I want a gym to do: Have weights and machines. Everything else is just icing on a cake that, no matter how well it does its job, will still be complained about by people who were having a bad day. My advice, go in at peak time and check it out. It's a good gym with great employees who are overworked like the rest of the service industry, so give em a break...like your food service workers."
"It's really a shame that the "pat" answer from ownership/manager is the exact same for every review. Definitely will keep looking.. Their answer to all: "We appreciate your feedback regarding the status of our gym equipment and the conditions of our amenities and facilities. We strive to keep all our machines and amenities well maintained, but it sounds like we have some work to do. We are working to make improvements and hope to serve you better in the future."
"First of all I really wanted to like this gym because it's close to me but I would rather drive to another gym that's actually clean. Even though I have seen employees "cleaning" it's only a bare minimum effort. The showers, equipment, group exercise rooms and floors are filthy!! Since joining about 1 year ago the same dried shampoo is still on the shower glass. The hot tub is always broken. This is not an understatement. Even after there was a fire and all the repairs were completed this gym is worse than before. Patrons of this gym do not show respect for others. I've never seen a gym that needed to post signs telling members not to spit on the equipment or floors. This sign was up for more than three months in the cardio area and although I never saw this happen outside of the sauna (yes that's been an issue) I don't doubt someone ruined it for others who respect shared spaces. Some of the staff members are very nice and attentive but most look like they hate their job or bored. Lastly, the owner tends to respond with a canned response of "sounds like we have some work to do..." but doesn't actually follow thru on anything. It's really sad because there's an opportunity to be a great gym for this area but I'll wait for another franchise to move in. Until then I'm driving to another gym."
"Great gym and really nice people. Particularly good in person classes. I wish they had a rate for someone recovering from a disability who can’t go very often. Even thier cheapest rates cost a lot per visit if you can’t go often"
"I've been a member here for 2 years. This gym progressively gets worse. They keep removing paper towel holders and spray bottles. Nothing seems to get cleaned. Equipment and bathrooms are always dirty. This gym is also always crowded and there is a new apartment building about to open a block over. It would be nice if the manager actually cared for this place and its members. The location in Arvada is significantly nicer and cleaner. I suggest making the longer drive if you can. Well worth it."
