"I was initially seen by Dr Edwards for a very painful case of periodonitis from an infected rear molar. Experiencing fever, swollen lymph nodes, and barely being able to open my jaw or swallow without intense pain, I called Comfort Dental after hearing from several people that it offers affordable care for those without dental insurance and was given an appointment the same day. After a very short waiting room experience followed by xrays overseen by a compassionate and gentle staff member, I met with Dr Edwards. He prescribed several antibiotics and pain medications, and we agreed to meet again to discuss options once the infection had cleared. Dr Edwards personally called several times over the next couple weeks to check my recovery. Total cost for this acute visit as a new patient and no insurance: $25.00. Already a veteran of the dental chair, I knew I was going to need a lot of work done in order to keep some teeth and dreaded the coming appointment. However, after meeting with Dr Edwards and going over their membership plan, I was relieved to find I could afford the needed procedures. But what I didn't know then, was the outstanding level of care I would receive from him and his staff for the two root canals, four crowns and three fillings to follow. Over the course of many months and procedures I found Dr Edwards to be a skillful and exacting dental surgeon who treats patients, not problems. In my past experience as a medic in the military I had the opportunity to work with and assist several eye surgeons, getting a small behind the scenes view of the specialty clinic and hospital realm at large. One quickly learns not all doctors, even in their respective fields or specialities, are the same. Some are talented physicians/diagnosticians with great bedside manner but not as skilled or sure of themselves in surgery. While others might be a bit gruff and impersonal, but excellent surgeons. A few are great at it all. The realm of dentistry is no different, in that you also look for confident and coordinated eye/hand skills along with the professional and empathetic care aspects. Travis Edwards carries all these positive traits with a humble dignity. And who certainly, in my case, put more weight on patient outcomes than on profit margins."
