Reviews of Momma Pearl's Cajun Kitchen
"I think this place has a lot of potential. I'd like to help. I had the platter with catfish and shrimp and red beans and rice. Overall I think the food is better than the Cajun restaurant downtown, but still pretty bland, not super flavorful which was disappointing. The lettuce underneath the catfish reminded me of eating a big Mac. Just take it away. The catfish itself was pretty good but there was a lack of depth with the flavor of pretty much everything I ate. But honestly with a few simple changes this place could be really good. I loved the sweet potato fries and okra. The first thing I would do if I suddenly became in charge of this place, is replace the menu. The menu is the worst thing about this place. Hard to read, too much going on, the poor waiter had to explain the menu to us and several other tables. The messy menu was a huge turn off for us. I do plan to come back, and hopefully I will be more impressed with the pasta dishes which did sound really good."
"Awesome food with wonderful New Orleans spices. Rarely can you find an authentic flavor so far from Louisiana. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so be sure either make a reservation or arrive early."
"It was okay, very slow service, we had to flag our server down a couple of times and the dinner crowd wasn't there just yet. We heard lots of good things, so we did the 40 minute drive up to check it out. We probably won't go out of our way to eat here again. Reasonable prices, good-sized portions, for decent, but not WOW Cajun food. Shrimp etouffee had TONS of shrimp which bumped up a star in food, but the red beans and rice were bland. We finished with the bread pudding made with croissants, which was rather mediocre, flat, and very sweet. Surprisingly it was a ridiculously high price for such a tiny piece in comparison to the rest of the menu. All in all, an okay place if you live close by. Tiny place and limited seating that fills up quickly, so def make reservations. Bar is big and serves food, which was relatively empty while we were there."
"Came here for dinner with some friends and had a fabulous time. We each grabbed different plates to try as much as possible from the extensive and mouth watering menu. An impressive liquor selection, kind and efficient service, Clean and modern bathrooms. Couldn’t ask for a better spot! Will definitely be back to enjoy their weekly specials."
"Momma Pearl's is the most authentic restaurant I have ever dined at in Colorado Springs. It's like a visit to the French Quarter in New Orleans, just off of North Gate. The food is incredible I love the Frog Legs, Shrimp, crawfish, I've even tried the Alligator. Momma Peral Cajun Kitchen is a treat for the whole family. The wife and I have had date nights there, lunch with friends, client meals; I have even treated out of town guests to this unique restaurant. The staff is always friendly and attentive. However, if you get to visit with Chef Robert "BB" Brunet; what a delight to hear his passion about freshness, his family recipes, and family history. I'm sorry Hurricane Katrina damaged their property back home; in 2005; but I feel blessed they landed here. I believe in supporting local family owned business. I would encourage everyone to come get a taste of authentic Cajun Food; give Momma Pearls Cajun Kitchen a chance. You won't regret it."
