"I attended all of my husband appt at GI and I was hopeful with first appt with Hill-Jensen she was great seems she cared and was knowledgeable. We then were dumped off to CNP Okerlund and every time she was involved she treated my husband like crap. Disrespectful, rude and honestly bad bedside manner. My husband Crohns is at it’s absolute worst I have ever seen and it’s okay to keep billing us $38,000 a treatment for it to only make him feel worse and then talk to him so disrespectful. If there is any other option please do so!"

"Promise to help me, dumped me off to Okerland CNP put me on a med that made things worse hospitalized 3 times in 3 months then told it was my fault for not pushing more appointments with the CNP who phone called me after each trip to the hospital. She had the nerve to tell me she don't schedule the appointments and I need to be responsible for my care."

"The first few visits were okay. The main doctor I saw was decent showed she cared seemed somewhat invested with my level of care. Then later on I saw NP she was awful. Medical gaslighting, when I called to speak to a nurse about questions or things I was experiencing they wouldn't put me through to a nurse. When I was able to talk to a nurse they didn't give me any accurate information. I switched to Sanford and they are 100% better. I wouldn't recommend going Avera GI...."

"Need one simple letter to get state assistance and they can't seem to take the 10 minutes of time to send it to me. Never felt this upset. I have a dead line for this letter off Wednesday. It's Tuesday and nothing!"

"I was very nervous about coming to Avera Gastroenterology due to these reviews and the nature of my symptoms because I want to be taken seriously. But I’m so glad I came here! Dr. Smith listened to everything I had to say and didn’t make me feel crazy for my concerns about my health. Having been a medical scribe before, I love to read my reports from all my visits and he documented everything I said almost word for word despite only scribbling a few words down on his piece of paper while I was going on and on. That means he listened to everything I said and took it seriously. I’m impressed by the level of accuracy in my chart notes and the fact that he showed genuine concern for my health despite me not having a history of colon cancer in my family and not being the age of 45 for a colonoscopy screening. With colon cancer being on the rise even younger and younger, they should not discriminate age for getting a colonoscopy done and he was more than willing to get me scheduled for one so I could get a diagnosis or even just peace of mind. Wonderful doctor!"
