"A very challenging hike for novice to moderate hikers, but well worth the effort once you get to the top. I last went on January 7th and was grateful to have spikes for extra traction on the snowy and icy spots. A perk of going in the winter is fewer crowds than in the warmer months. As an unexpected bonus, a family of deer crossed the path as I was taking a break to breathe and slow my heart rate. Once you get to the top of the stairs, I was told it's possible to hike even further before descending, but given the time I had, I wasn't able to explore. The trail hike down is beautiful and less harrowing than taking the stairs back down."
"This trail is difficult. Don’t be fooled. Start early with plenty of water, some electrolytes, and snacks. The views are unreal and you will feel a massive sense of accomplishment afterwards. If you want to test yourself, this is it."
"One of the toughest things I've done. You want to start early and bring plenty of water. It us amazing to see the sunrise from the top. When you think you're done, you aren't. Just keep going, and it will be worth it. Make sure to park in a lot to catch the shuttle as there isn't parking there. I would also prepare to bring snacks and anything else needed for a hike. Traditionally, you want to take the Barr trail down as it's easier and not as steep. I highly recommend this though."
"The manitou incline is definitely a great challenge. If you have knee or hip problems it is unfortunately not for you. If you don't have a great level of fitness you can still tackle it by taking your time, also if you go slow you will have more time to enjoy the views on the way up. After reaching the top you will be awarded with some great views."
