Reviews of Bonny and Read Seafood
"Visiting from Texas and stopped yesterday for lunch I had the prime rib tacos, and my husband had the halibut service was amazing and the food was outstanding"
"My girlfriend and I made a reservation for our one year anniversary. There was nothing that I could mention that was negative about our visit. Our server was pleasant and moved the dinner at a perfect pace. I work in food and beverage, and her timing, suggestions, description of the menu, and hospitality are superb. Above all, the food was delicious. I am on a wholistic diet, so the salmon with spaghetti squash and shrimp was worth every penny. I couldn't make it at home if I tried. Will be visiting again in the near future. UPDATE: 3/3/24 Visited again for a weekend dinner with no reservation. The bar was open where Mathew greeted us with with hospitality and walked us through the menu, and showed genuine concern and care to our allergies. Drinks were excellent, and the food was even better than our first visit."
"My husband made reservations for Valentine's Day because we've always wanted to try Bonny and Read. The entire experience was well worth it and we will definitely be going back. Not only was the atmosphere wonderful, the service and food were outstanding. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu, very professional, but also personable at the same time. The seafood was some of the best in Colorado Springs."
"I went to Bonny and Read Fresh Seafood and Straks to celebrate Valentine's Day a few days early. Upon entry, the host was on the phone and appeared to be making Valentine's Day reservations for a caller. The call was a little extensive, and we were not acknowledged while we stood waiting. After the call was completed, the host was very nice and apologized for the wait, created small talk, and made us feel welcomed. The hist escorted us to our table, showed us where to hang our coats, and introduced himself and the restaurant menu. Our waiter came over and introduced himself. He gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. He returned in a reasonable time and took our order. My date ordered calamari and oysters for appetizers. The calamari had a good flavor, and it was a good amount for the price. My only gripe is that they were not as crispy as they appeared to be or as what I'm used to. They were a bit soggy. The oysters were really good with three different sauces and served on ice. The cool thing is that they allowed you to order as many oysters as you wanted. We also order a large shareable alcoholic beverage. It was very cute with a shark ocean theme, containing shark candies and fresh pineapples. Definitely top-notch drink and shout out to the bartender! Our main entrées were pretty good. My date ordered the Alaskan Halibut. It was grilled with lemon and was plated over top red potatoes and a side of asparagus. Her dish was very well prepared, and the flavor was great! I would have liked to see a bigger piece of fish, but overall, it was very good. I ordered a medium rare 14oz Ribey steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The steak was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The potatoes and broccoli were also prepared well. As my dates meal, I think a little more food would have be appropriate for the price point. Créme Brûlée for desert was good. Overall, great meal and service. Pricy for the portions... but good."
"Me and my sister ate there for lunch and it’s our first time there. It’s an upscale restaurant so expect to spend around $50 for 2 (if you order from lunch menu) but we spent more than that because we are hungry! LOL They have Lunch menu (not many choices) but lunch price was pretty good deal (it’s between $14-$20), it came with a soup or salad or crispy fries. Regular menu was more pricey but more choices. We ordered a cup of New England clam chowder, Shrimp & Scallop Ceviche, Maine lobster roll (Lunch menu) and 6oz Filet mignon with add on’s shrimp scampi and sauteed onions & mushrooms (we are hungry!) We didn’t really like the Clam Chowder because it’s too thick but the taste is great. The ceviche taste so refreshing with perfectly citrus flavor (not overly sour). The scallops in ceviche is a baby scallops so don’t expect you will get a regular size scallop when you order it! The lobster roll was not as we expected :( we really put a high hope on it but too bad it’s a little bland but It still tastes good if you are someone who likes food in moderate flavor, it just not us ;) The Filet Mignon was the savior! It cooked perfectly medium! The mashed potato is delicious too. The shrimp scampi was tasty and was perfectly cook! Not forget to mention the sauteed onions and mushrooms is completed our steak on a plate :) YUMMY! But we forget to take a picture of it lol! Overall, i would still recommend this place if you are looking for some seafood and steak! It just us not liking the food but they taste great!"
