"My partner and i tried Rakkan for the first time tonight. What a shame. These other reviews stating how bad the service is, they were right. To go into detail about our visit, we were cravi g ramen and noticed Rakkan was open until 10pm. Being a service industry worker myself, we decided to be very quick. Upon arriving the store was completely empty and when we walked in, none of the staff greeted us. The girl we had as our server was particularly cold and we definitely felt like an inconvenience. We got sat around 9:15pm, ordered by 9:16, and received our food by 9:23. The speed to which they got us the food was impressive and got the extra star. The food itself was relatively bland and unsatisfactory as it didnt really fill us up. Another gentleman delivered the check to our table at 9:30, telling us they close in 10 minutes. We had barely gotten through much of our food and were already being ushered out. This was particularly apalling. 30 minutes before they stated they were closed, they essentially told us to get out. Throughout our entire meal we were getting exasperation and glares from the staff. What an unpleasant way to eat a meal.I get better service at a McDonalds. Every time they came to our table, we were met with agitation, annoyance and none-limited communication. As we left at 9:35, we said our thanks, and in return got radio silence. What a shame, we wont be back and recommend you dont even consider this place."
"It’s so hard to find good affordable ramen in Colorado. Rakkan is decent. My kids and I had Amber (shoyu) and my husband had Pearl (shio). I found Pearl a little bland and preferred Amber."
"My husband is still talking about this place's ramen several hours later. And he's super picky about his ramen because he's from Japan. Even though Rakkan doesn't have his beloved tokotsu ramen, he wants to go back. We all enjoyed it (even our three year old!) 3yo said "I liked the soup!" Husband had Pearl (shio,) I had Garnet (miso) and 3yo had the children's meal which was Amber (shoyu ramen.) Service was fast, food was hot and delicious, and the price was reasonable. We will go again when we're in Boulder."
"Great little ramen spot, their noodles are different from most ramen places I've been. They have chili oil on the table which I love. They also sell the soda in the bottles that you have to pop open. Friendly and helpful staff, average pricing."
"Absolutely amazing experience. Everyone there was polite and very attentive. As soon as I walked in the door I was approached and helped to a seat. I ordered pork buns as an appetizer and I was a little surprised and impressed by the presentation. It was an open face concept steamed bun, topped with 2 slices of pork and spring mix lettuce drizzled with an umami glaze and sprinkled with sesame seeds. For my Entre I saw they had a combo for any bowl of Ramen and one side for $21.95. I decided to go with Miso Ramen and Spicy Beef Gyoza. Everything showed up promptly after I ordered, several minutes at most. The Gyoza were nice and fresh, still steaming hot from the deep fryer, I enjoyed the seasoning and the spiciness wasn't overpowering. The Miso Ramen was great the broth had good flavor, although I felt it could have been a bit stronger. The pork was nice and tender and the egg cook perfectly. It was a decent sized bowl as well. All in all i spent under $50 for just myself including tip, however I have a large appetite and most wouldn't order an appetizer and combo meal for themselves."
