"I have been going to hr block for 4 years filing my taxes with the same lady. Unfortunately she wasn’t available this year so I had someone different today. As soon as I walked in for my apt a lady walked up to the front and failed to acknowledge me and just stared at me with a blank look. I had to greet her first… then when asking if she was the lady I had an apt with, she very rudely said no! Another lady walked up and just looked so rude and kept giving dirty looks.. come to find out she was the manager. Not very manager like if you ask me. So I proceed to go to the cubicle with the lady who was doing my taxes Tiffany was her name. In the 4 years I’ve been going there I would watch my tax preparer as she clicked and filled in the lines. As I was watching Tiffany she failed to fill in lots of the lines. And when asking why the lines were blank she couldn’t answer me. For example, I have 3 children and qualified for the CTC which was $4,800. She told me I would be getting $53 for the CTC. When asked why only $53 she yet again couldn’t answer me directly. Next thing I know the “manager “ interrupted and told me I couldn’t finish my tax return because they had other clients. I work and took the day off to go file. I wanted to look at the papers to see if she missed anything because there were a lot of blanks and something wasn’t adding up. When trying to do this, the manager again told me I needed to leave or I would have the cops called. I explained today is the only day I can come in and I needed answers to my tax questions which could not be answered by both my tax preparer or the manager. The manager then decided to call the cops and have me escorted out. I’ve been going there for 4 years never had a problem until now. Nobody seemed like they knew what they were doing. Especially hearing one lady say “I hope I didn’t mess that ladys tax papers up” laughing. Please go somewhere else if you file with hr block! They will try to scam you !"

"I NEVER leave reviews, especially bad ones. I’m the furthest thing from a “Karen” and I don’t aim to get anyone in trouble but this is a well deserved one star. I absolutely encourage anyone looking to get their taxes done professionally to seek out an actual tax professional- the cost will probably be very similar anyway. Here’s my experience- I needed real tax advice this year(2023) and I decided H&R Block was the most convenient way to go. I made an appointment for April10th (last minute) but I was assured multiple times that this was plenty of time to get them submitted by April18th. I had ALL of my documents submitted to H&R Block that same day April 10th. Throughout the week I would check in and I was assured that my taxes would get done on time. Finally, on tax day, April 18th, the representative tells me that they won’t be completed on time because she had some questions that she needed to ask someone about. I was a little taken back considering they reassured me several times that they could finish on time, but I still proceeded with the tax preparation. April 20th rolls around and I call in asking the status. The representative says that she wasn’t able to get her questions answered and it’s her last day in her seasonal office. After the phone call I visited the location to pick up my documents and to let them know I didn’t want to proceed with their preparation (I was polite about this as I just wanted to move on, probably just revert back to turbo tax as I’m already late in filing now)- this was her word for word response “I figured you would change your mind from the beginning but I can get them done today.” I was in absolute disbelief at the comment considering that from the beginning I was transparent in letting them know I had chosen H&R Block because I had a lot of questions about my taxes this year, and that I was seeking professional help instead of turbo tax. I responded back by saying okay well I’m putting my faith in you to get them done today. 3pm rolls around on the same day and she called to inform me that she didn’t have time to finish. (Go figure. The best part is, My taxes are not complex by any means). I visited the location to finally collect my documents. I asked to speak to a manager (now I’m a Karen) and When I questioned her as to why it couldn’t not be finished on time the manager blamed it on (me) submitting my taxes to them at the end of the season(April 10th) and that her employees workload was just to much for her to handle, plus her employee who is “super experienced” in taxes couldn’t get the advice she needed in time to complete mine. The manager’s response also put me in disbelief. If H&R Block doesn’t have the capacity to handle taxes towards the end of the season then do not reassure clients that it can be done. Set the expectation or delegate tax returns to more experienced associates. So now I’m filing late and I’m back to square one. If you want things done right, do them yourself! It’s super simple to transfer numbers from one document to another and file via TurboTax. I went to H&R block for good tax advice/ convenience. I should’ve known better as it’s a corny corporation and has a reputation for subpar work. The myths are true. Ps. I didn’t use their names because I’m sure if H&R Block did proper training and delegation of workloads, plus had enough retail support; that this particular representative could have finished on time as promised, and with the answers and support she needed."

"Very poor communication on both pricing and status of my filings. When I dropped off my information, I was told my very simple tax return would be ready in three days. I never received any follow up communication on anything. I had to initiate all calls. After pushing the issue, I finally picked up my return 12 days later. That wouldn't have been an issue if they would have told me this in the beginning and kept me informed of the status of my return. This was the second year with the same issues at this location. There won't be a third year."
