About the Telluride Gondola Station
The Telluride Gondola Station, located on West San Juan Avenue in Telluride, Colorado, is a transit station that operates year-round. The station is open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to midnight, with extended hours until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays during the winter season.
The Telluride Gondola Station connects the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village with a breathtaking 12-minute ride on a free gondola, the first and only of its kind in the United States. This popular attraction provides access to hiking and biking trails in the summer and ski slopes in the winter. Passengers can board the gondola in either town and ride to the midway point at Station St. Sophia, where they can access various trails before continuing on to the other side.
With an elevation change of 1,750 feet from Telluride to Station San Sophia and 960 feet from Station San Sophia to Mountain Village, passengers can enjoy stunning views of Mother Nature from 10,500 feet. Accessible cabins are available for those with strollers, wheelchairs, and well-behaved pets on leashes.
The gondola is fast, traveling at 11 mph, and free to ride thanks to community financial support. It operates on green electricity purchased from San Miguel Power Association, making it an environmentally friendly mode of transportation.
Originally built to reduce air pollution by decreasing car traffic, the Telluride Gondola Station has been serving approximately 2.8 million skiers, snowboarders, hikers, and commuters since 1996. Riders can enjoy expansive views of the San Juan Mountains, mesas covered in Aspen trees, and waterfalls, with the possibility of seeing all the way to the La Sal Range in Utah on a clear day. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this unique and scenic form of transportation in Telluride.

Reviews of Telluride Gondola Station
"I love the gondola, but the gondola door racks don't do a reasonable job of accommodating twin tips or fat skis; It creates a mess when I have to wait for a gondola with a snowboard rack (confusing the line and irritating people). Plz put snowboard racks on the back of more (preferably all) gondolas; thanks!"
"Free ride up to the top of the mountain! The scenic view from the top is amazingly beautiful. All the staff are very kind and helpful."
"Free gondola in Telluride! Definitely worth the visit, such pretty views. The towns are great to visit and walk around in."
"Amazing gondola to winter park, and super easy to find/walk to from anywhere in Telluride. We’ll be back!"
"What a fun and scenic transport option! As the gondola goes up the mountain from Telluride, views of the town and canyon are spectacular. Coming down the other side, you get great looks at Mountain Village, as well as multiple ski runs and lifts. The whole trip takes about 20 minutes, and is completely free!"
