Reviews of Topo Rigs
"Came to Ryan and his team at Topo Rigs to help with installing a slider window in my Ram Promaster. Cutting a hole in the side of your van is no small task so I decided to leave it up to the professionals! They were able to fit me into their schedule quickly and did quality, clean, and fast work! Had me in and out of their shop in under 2 hours! The team was great to work with. I would definitely recommend Topo Rigs for any one-off services or full build outs."
"My husband and I were tent campers for a very long time, then we tried a camper trailer but didn’t like the limitations off road, then we tried a cabover camper, and felt claustrophobic. It seemed like a van was the way to go. We investigated the various stock camper van makes and models, but as we never plug in, they all had features that we don’t need, such as t.v., a.c., microwave, and a high price tag. It made sense to design our own, though we are not handy and we lack time and tools. We heard about Topo Rigs and started conversation with Ryan. Next, we had to decide which cargo van, Ram, Mercedes, or Ford. Ryan was helpful with the decision. Dialed into the Ford Transit, for maximum drivability and nimbleness off road, we chose the short (130 inch) wheelbase with the medium roof, and were able to find a gently used 2019 to purchase. I can stand up in it, Richard not quite but that’s okay because we spend most of our time outside of the van. I drew pictures of the interior configuration, and Ryan worked with us to refine the design. He listened well to our desires and made good suggestions. We asked him to build it in two phases. The first phase included elevated steel bed frame, solar electric system (2) 160W panels on the rack, inverter, lithium-ion battery etc.), roof vent, two windows, and 2 flares so that we can sleep sideways, insulation, beautiful blue stain pine ceiling, upholstered walls, coin grip flooring, LED lights, audio system, running boards, swivel passenger seat, rack and ladder. Beautiful and already comfy, the workmanship was excellent and tight. We used it in that configuration from August until December, spending 40 nights out during that time. That was a good experience because we got to dial in the rest of the design. It was also cold in the Fall, but the best time to be out because there are fewer people out there then. But it did make us realize that we would like a furnace. We returned the van to Ryan’s shop in December for phase 2. Phase 2 was the sexy part, Ryan and his crew built cabinetry out of bamboo, solid and beautiful, with smooth sliding drawers, a sink cabinet with Ruvati sink, 12 volt water pump, cold and grey jugs. The cabinet next to the sliding door holds all of our cooking and eating supplies, and a table folds to the outside so that Richard can stand outside and cook under the awning. We use an induction electric cooktop and it can be used inside or outside. Phase 2 also included upper cabinets, one for our clothes that is above our feet, and a narrow shelf above our heads. These are built out of powder coated steel and upholstery. There is a third upper cabinet above the sink galley, and it holds plenty of food. We just returned from a two-week trip, and the cabinets easily held all of the food and clothes that we needed. It was so great to have a place for everything; It makes it very easy to be mostly outside while having your things easily at hand. On this past trip we drove rural highways and urban freeways, some with man-eating potholes, all the cabinetry is tight and quiet. Ryan did install a Webasto furnace that lives under the passenger seat and taps into the gas tank. We had fired it up a couple of times and it worked fine, but now the weather is warming up. I know we will be loving it come fall and winter. We have returned the van to Ryan for a couple of minor tweaks, and he adjusted things right away. Ryan and his crew have a combination of skills that create functional and beautiful rigs. Everything feels very solid and tight. He completed the projects on time, and pretty close to bid price. He was fine with change orders. He communicated well throughout the process. He was a creative problem solver. I would not hesitate to recommend Topo Rigs to anyone. We plan to spend two months traveling to and around Alaska and coming home through Canada (if they let us in) this summer into Fall. This past two-week trip made me more excited than ever to spend as much time as possible living in the van!"
"This review is long overdue. In January 2020, Ryan and team did an AMAZING custom build for my van! Topo designed and installed custom cabinets, storage boxes and a bedframe, as well as the electrical system and heater. Their workmanship is top notch, only exceeded by their customer service. Ryan was a joy to work with and I look forward to our build for Stan 2.0! I couldn't recommend Topo Rigs enough."
"We contacted Ryan about installing windows in our new DIY campervan. He was very communicative and responsive and did a FABULOUS job of installing the windows. I highly recommend Ryan and Topo Rigs for your van conversion needs."
"To begin with, our experience with Topo Rigs was really great. We brought them our 2017 Promaster 2500. They built it into an RV from top to bottom (insulation, paneling, windows, cabinets, electric, solar, and more) . We had specific needs and ideas that Ryan (the owner) responded to with ideas of his own making the build process easy for us. The work they did on our van is top notch and I can only recommend them highly."
