Reviews of Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom
"We stopped in when the kids were feeling pizza. This place is a little deceiving, in the way that It's a little dated, but the food and service was good. The menu has lots of options, it was good and NOT the normal greasy bar food. It was kid friendly, had a bar area that was pretty full. Atmosphere was fun, music playing in the background. Overall, it was good. We have been back a few times. Definitely worth checking out!"
"We came during happy hour, was pleased to beable to seat ourselves, and have the server(Devin) actually attend to us within a decent amount of time. Being happy hour, we ordered drinks and an appetizer (430 pm). When we got the bill (530pm), everything was regularly priced. I asked Devin about it and he discounted the appetizer and 1 of the beers I had ordered 10.00$ off of a 45$ bill. He was well trained and professional. Unfortunately, lacks the experience of marketing happy hour sales during happy hour, to increase his take home tip pay."
"Fallen from glory. I once loved this place. Their menu used to be huge and had lots variety in good food. Now their menu is small and has the exact same food as everyone else. The last few visits felt like the food sat under the heat lamps forever before being served and the server forgot several things on the most recent trip, including the entire appetizer, 2 drinks, sauces requested when ordering the meal. It sure has fallen from its previous glory..."
"Went here with friends several years ago when they first opened. Service was poor, food was cold and bland. I wanted to give them a fair amount of time to improve, so went again a few months later, and there were no changes. Went last night with a group of friends, their choice not mine. It was very loud when we went in but our table was reserved and set up very nicely. It took a little while to get our menus and drinks because like every other place in the valley they were extremely short staffed. We ordered three different appetizers. The cheese sticks were cold and not completely cooked, the artichoke spinach dip was burned on the bottom, the meat rolls were kind of doughy in the middle. Then the pizza arrived, it was delicious! Unfortunately it was not very warm but was still tasty with generous toppings! Our wait person was very kind and we could tell he was running around doing multiple jobs. He brought me a refill on my soda water without asking and was as attentive as he could be covering multiple customers. When the place thinned out, the football game volume was turned up so loud that we could barely hear each other. Other staff members I came into contact with were very polite and friendly. The bathroom was spotless, and well supplied. Most likely will not go here again unless friends suggest it."
"It has been years since we've been to an Old Chicago. This was our first time at the one here in GJ. Service was good. Our server was busy, but kept an eye on us and was quick with the orders and refills. On to the food. We mainly ate off of the happy hour menu. The Sicilian Pepperoni Pizza rolls are good. Damn good! The pizza we got was a 6" pepperoni with extra cheese. Good flavor, nice heat, but needed to cook for a few more minutes. The pretzel jalapeño bites were good, needed more jalapeño. The cheese sauce that came with the bites was legit! Beer was cold and drinks were priced well. It was overall a good experience. We will go back and I recommend that you give it a shot."
