"Absolutely amazing place great food, small town friendly atmosphere, and quick efficient service"
"I recently had the pleasure of dining at a local BBQ joint, Givey’s Place in Alburnett and let me tell you, it was an experience worth raving about! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of smoked meats and the warm, inviting atmosphere. First and foremost, let's talk about the star of the show: the barbecue itself. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with the perfect balance of smokiness, tenderness, and seasoning. Whether it was the perfectly smoked ribs, the juicy brisket, or the succulent pulled pork, every dish was cooked to perfection. And let's not forget the array of sauces available, each adding its own unique twist to the already delicious meats. But it wasn't just the food that impressed me; it was the entire dining experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that my dining companions and I had everything we needed throughout the meal. The ambiance was cozy and laid-back, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a long day. And let's not overlook the sides! The macaroni and cheese topped with brisket was creamy and indulgent, the coleslaw was crisp and refreshing, and the brisket pizza was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Each side complemented the main dishes perfectly, adding an extra layer of satisfaction to the meal. Overall, my experience at this Givey’s Place was nothing short of exceptional. From the delicious food to the welcoming atmosphere, it's clear that this place knows how to do barbecue right. Whether you're a seasoned BBQ aficionado or just looking for a tasty meal, I highly recommend giving this place a try. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Id give it 10 stars if I could!"
"Tried this place for the 1st time. Called in an order for lunch at 1ish. I know it was the end of their lunch time. The place was spotless and the staff was very nice. The brisket and pulled pork was very dry. The brisket burger was way over smoked for my liking."
"Smoking meat is clearly not your forte!!! Some of the worst smoked meat I’ve ever eaten. Our brisket Mac & Cheese was so dry and no seasoning whatsoever. Pulled pork as well was dry as sawdust and over powered by the taste of smoke. Maybe try serving cold cereal you might make better money at that."
"So this week, I went to lunch at Giveys Place ( Monday through Thursday )for the lunch specials, and they are phenomenal. A small town bbq place with top-notch service and food. Monday is his smoked chicken hindquarter, the best chicken I've ever had. It's so tender that I pulled the meat right off the bone. Tuesday is smoked pork ribs. You don't need any bbq sause for these ribs as they are smoked to perfection by the owner, but its available if you need it, and well as an extra napkin Wednesday is the smoked Brisket burger. He make grinds the whole Brisket himself, into Hamburger, then smokes the burgers some it fits the size of the bun. He also adds lettuce, tomato, and onion. Thursday is his version of smoked pulled pork tacos. With his own homemade sause and Pico. The pico is a must-have and a mouth full of flavor. He does have smoked pulled pork as an alternative for lunch as well. All the meals have your choice of smoked mac&cheese ( I highly recommend it, its the best), smoked baked beans, or coleslaw. These meals are filling and are all smoked (he uses post oak and hickory) cooked and prepared by the owner. It's an excellent place to stop in for lunch in Alburnett Iowa and is only 10 minutes north of Cedar Rapids /Marion area, and believe me, it's well worth the drive."
