"Worst insurance in history. Nothing is covered, premiums continue to skyrocket, you couldn’t possibly meet your deductible because it’s all non-covered charges. On top of that they force you to get “care” at Avera facilities. This entire operation is a bunch of extortionists. They also work with Avera health to keep people from getting healthy by denying treatment that is prescribed by their own doctors. No better way to stay profitable than deny treatment so that their customers never get healthy and need to keep going back for more billable hours. It should be illegal for medical providers to be in the insurance business."

"Avera health plans billing department has been horrible! Finally got my June and July bill together on one bill on 7/28/22. Bills are due by first of the month. They never send bills out on time and it is next to impossible to pay online. Tried installing and using there app, that just keeps closing and doesn't allow you to enter any information. Terrible service!"
"I would give them a zero but it isn't an option. I have Avera Insurance and spoke with them in regards to my medical bills following child birth. They offered to combine all my accounts so I would be able to make 1 payment as apposed to numerous payments a month. I have been making automatic bi-weekly payment for months and today I receive 3 bills from AMI!! I called to find out where the miss communication was and was told they are not able to combine accounts and that i should have been communicating with them in regards to all my accounts. I am furious! The gal said that the hospital and clinic bills are in separate areas of Avera Health Plans. When I asked why this is not communicated to patients all the lady could do was say she was sorry. She also said this isn't the first time patients have called about this same situation happening and that she understood my frustrations. IF THIS HAPPENS WITH OTHER PATIENTS WHY DON"T YOU FIX IT!!!! If I did't love my DR and had another option for insurance I would leave Avera for good! I have had nothing but issues with Avera Health Plans, and a friend of mine who just had a baby is going through the same issues with these people. They don't communicate, they don't read notes left in the account, they don't care about the patients at all. Horrible Horrible Horrible Insurance!!!!"
