"Excellent professional efficient friendly service with my tax professional!"
"I've been going to Geneva Marsh at the 6th St/1st Ave SW location for years. She has over 45 yrs experience, and is very efficient and friendly. She's very busy, so make your appointment early!"
"***WARNING CEDAR RAPIDS *** Worst service ever. We went there to have my wife's taxes filed. We are new to Iowa and are investing in buying homes. We had the horrible experience of meeting Rebecca Buck. From day one it was clear she had very basic knowledge of taxes. She even admitted it was all the software. She was confused about filing self employed and lied about her experience. She had to be instructed on what to do and got several things wrong. We decided to go with her under duress because we waited two weeks for an appointment. Even though she had the P&L, 1099, and W2s for 2 weeks and the supporting docs she requested (but didn't need) for 5 days she writes us today (no phone call) at 4:50 PM (10 minutes to closing) that the meeting we have scheduled for tomorrow is canceled because my wife's self employed taxes have her flummoxed and she is unable to do them. She then refers us to a colleague in another office, she gives us the WRONG NUMBER to him as well and when we finally tracked him down...it's a 3 1/2 week wait for an appointment. I will NEVER use H&R block again. We are new to Iowa and I am appalled at the lack of professionalism, lack of basic skills at one's career choice, and the bold faced lies masquerading as faux confidence shown by Ms. Rebecca Buck. I thank God we have other choices. But me, my wife, our kids, will no longer use HR Block and I will openly, and consistently campaign for the new tax person we found that does NOT work for a company that would hire and keep such a subpar employee as Ms. Buck. Stay away, go somewhere else."
"Very disappointed. For simple tax filers, you're fine. For anyone with mixed streams of income OR if you expect your time and effort to be respected and spending your money there to be appreciated, find a different location. My "Tax Pro" was Rebecca Buck. She was polite, but lacked courtesy for the customer and lacked transparency, creating frustration for me and severely wasting my time. I booked an appointment online and received a call in a few hours that the time/date I booked online wasn't available... Okay so we rescheduled for a virtual appointment almost a week later than the originally scheduled appointment. The day of, in my email confirmation it says 2:15pm, but apparently it was actually for 1:15pm. I login, see a message that I missed it and was asked to reschedule... AGAIN. BUT I understand it's tax time and these people are usually booked back-to-back, so I called to reschedule for an in-person appointment so this won't happen again and again no availability, but this time over a week out. OK. I wait. I turn in my profit and loss statement with expense sheet, w-2, and 1099s for taxes to be filed a WEEK before the appointment. The literal day of the appointment, barely 2 hours before the expected appointment time, I'm asked to bring in all the proof of income and receipts totalling every expense for the business I'm claiming. Seriously? I didn't get the message and of course, no one could be bothered to provide a courtesy call before I come to the appointment, paying $15 for an Uber there AND $10 back. We talked for a few, went over the numbers and she said she can't do the filing without proof of everything. Fair, not what I'm accustomed to being that I usually file in a different state and recently relocated here, but I understand the hesitation. Although, for the past 5 years I've filed that same way sans w-2 and she can clearly see that in my H&R Block previous filings... but respected the request even though I felt it was excessive. I was hoping to have an appointment the next day or 2 days later... nope. Another whole week out. So I provide proof of everything via H&R Block online uploading... the day before the rescheduled appointment she sends a message at the end of the day to let me know she cannot complete my filing because she's too inexperienced with my type of 1040 filing. You seriously couldn't have told me that 2 weeks ago when I originally sent a profit and loss, 1099s and w-2?! You couldn't have told me that a week ago when I was in your office reviewing my filing?! And where was I referred to? Another location across town with zero availability that I can make for another 3 weeks. Alternative option? Drop-off service, wait 10 days for filing to be complete. At this point, they've lost a customer and referral partner. I've referred dozens of individuals and several businesses to H&R Block and I will no longer be doing that. I will be taking my business elsewhere."
"I literally have one 1099 with one box of income on it and a $600 stimulus payment to report for this tax season. Took 2 hours for my initial appointment. Then the person wouldn’t be back to the office until a week and a half later and couldn’t finish them at the other office she was working at. Stated it was company policy to not switch offices. I’ve been transferred to 10 different ppl since then, it’s been a week. Not a single one of my calls has been returned and I call three times a day after being told someone will look to see what going on and would call me back . None of my information I have given over 10 times now has been submitted. My husband passed so it was very important to get the tax advance and a week later I’m no closer to it then I was before I wasted countless hours. I was told when I went into speak with someone that they tried calling me back, and they didnt have the time to put my taxes in, again it’s two boxes they need to fill out. I have no missed calls and not one vm was left and no one could spare 15 mins to finish my taxes almost a week later. Completely unprofessional, not organized, not knowledgeable and horrible first impression. I will be using H. Jackson, hopefully they can manage to enter in two boxes, it won’t be hard to do better than H and R block who managed to do nothing and then lied to me trying to make it my fault for not answering a call that was never placed. I cannot express how horrible this place is. Corporate seems completely indifferent about the complaint. I will be filing a lawsuit for my wasted time and money. You couldn’t pay me to give them a second chance."
