"Don’t live here because you won’t get your security deposit back, you’ll never get a parking spot close to your building, and you’ll be kept awake because of all of the parties constantly being thrown. I am a very clean person and made sure my room was very neat before moving out, fully expecting my $500 deposit back, but the next month received only half. I made sure to take photos of everything in my room after I cleaned it, so I emailed them the photos and explained the situation and after 6 months of continuous communication I finally got most of it back. They took off random charges to try to get more money out of me, so I highly recommended if you live here take photos and videos once moving out. The parking lot is always completely full and not fun to walk far when it’s -5 and you have to park at the furthest building from you because that’s the last parking spot. I will say the only good thing about living here was the sweet maintenance man. He always showed up quickly after I submitted maintenance request and was always very nice."
"I would not recommend renting from Prairie Pointe. I lived at Prairie Pointe for the past 2 years and there were a lot of problems. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is not the place. The biggest problem that I have is that they keep your $500 deposit upon move out no matter how clean and well taken care of your place was. They also are trying to charge me a lot more on top of it. This must be a common thing because half of the reviews on here say the same exact thing. Me and my roommates made sure to keep our place nice to avoid this issue. We left our place cleaner than when we moved in. The place was definitely not cleaned before our arrival. There was also a point where we had to get our AC fixed 3 times in a span of some of the hottest months. We were sitting in our apartment drenched in sweat for days at a time. The most frustrating part about it is that I have called and emailed them multiple times about the issue of my deposit and getting charged 100’s more and no one has gotten back to me. They keep saying they will call or email me back and no one does. Save your money and do not rent from this place."
"Would not recommend staying here. The 5 star reviews are only because they offer gift cards to residents that give them a 5 star review. This place will scam you upon move out with 100’s of $ in charges beyond your deposit. Take your money to somewhere else!"
"Prairie Pointe is a standout choice for those attending DMACC and seeking proximity to campus paired with comfortable living. Criticisms with lower ratings appear to be based on entitlement rather than genuine concerns, as it outshone other apartments in my housing search. The positive aspects include private bedrooms and bathrooms with spacious desks, in-unit laundry facilities, close proximity to campus, access to a well-equipped gym, and the fortune of friendly roommates fostering a homely atmosphere. The kitchen and living spaces are well-designed for student living, offering opportunities to meet new people and make friends. Despite generally high costs in Ankeny, Prairie Pointe proves to be a more affordable option. While rent may seem relatively high, especially considering occasional maintenance issues, the prompt response to fix problems is commendable. Some wear and tear may exist, but it varies between apartments. However, it's worth noting potential disturbances from college activities and neighboring units, untidy walkways, and thin walls. Despite the advantages, the rent, when shared among roommates, may appear steep for college students, prompting a suggestion for a reduction. Overall 4/5 stars."
"have had a great experience living at Prairie Point! I have been living here for less then a year and could go on and on about the great things about it here! They have a fitness center, coffee counter and other perks! I also love that they give you gift cards at random times during the year even by just renewing your lease!"
