"My wife and I hired Honkamp to do our personal taxes for the first time this year. Was very surprised to get a bill for almost $3000 - some of which was understandable for some foreign filings that needed to be done in our case, but a standard tax preparation fee of $1500, "new client charge" of $500 and a "Client Data Security and Technology Fee" of $84 - I'm sorry, when you already charge $1500 as a standard preparation fee, I should not be paying any extra "technology" fees or setup fees - all of this just to file someone's personal taxes frankly seem punitive and excessive. We had no indication that we'd be charged for these additional things, and we contacted Honkamp to complain about these charges and they were unwilling to waive these fees. 2 stars because they did file our taxes properly including some foreign complexities, but we won't be using this service again."
