"My cousin and I met up in Atlantic and decided on staying at the bed and breakfast as something different. The rooms were adorable, the bedding comfy. (she Hangs the sheets outside to dry! They smelled so good) She was very acommadating to us leaving and coming back later in the evening. We did take the breakfast option and it was amazing. She was just a deliteful hostess and visited with us at breakfast giving us some history of the house. When we were ready to leave, she share short cuts on our paths home (different directions)and things of interest to see. Over all we really enjoyed our stay and will go back again!"
"I planned a romantic weekend getaway with my fiancé. Fireplace, jacuzzi and “balcony” on 2 acres sounded amazing and the reviews seemed to support an amazing time. Upon arrival, we found the room was nice but there to be no hot water available. Barbara told us she would look at it while we were at dinner. I had to take a freezing 1min shower just to get ready for our reservation. We came back after dinner almost 2 hours later, to find Barbara in the room with the tv channel changed.(like she had been watching a show, waiting for us to come back) she proceeded to tell us she didn’t know why the water wasn’t working but also said she couldn’t get a plumber on the weekend. She did offer to run a garden hose to the jacuzzi(?) but hadn’t done so while she was already in there. Inconvenienced to say the least. I told her I didn’t want a hose running through the bathroom and it already had dampened the evening. I proceeded to tell her I didn’t want to pay for a room I couldn’t even shower in. She said she was going to offer a “discount” Waking up early and still feeling sour on the deal, I called and told her we wouldn’t be wanting breakfast (which was at 9 and I called just before 8) and that we were just going to check out but I wanted to know what she was going to charge after this debacle. Her offer was to take $50 off! For no tub/shower/jacuzzi availability. It was frustrating and I told her that was not good enough. The room was $175 with fireplace (electric) “balcony”( which was an enclosed, small sunroom at best) and a jacuzzi. Take away the hot water and only get offered a very minimal discount?! I had to drive an hour and a half home to shower. Overall, I’d say to just avoid this place. The pictures are very outdated and to not have hot water was completely unacceptable. Definitely spoiled the “romance” of our weekend I paid what I thought was an acceptable amount for the room in cash and Barbara still tried to charge my card. Bad business and full of excuses. Disappointing to say the least"
"This cozy bed and breakfast is simply the perfect getaway. The location is perfect for exploring or simply relaxing. Barbara is the most amazing host. You can't beat her genuine hospitality and the mansion is breathtaking. She makes the most thoughtful and delicious breakfast as well. I highly recommend you plan a trip soon! I can't wait to go back!"
"Lovely stay at this Bed and Breakfast. Just what I was looking for in my quick stay in Atlantic. Barbara was a lovely host and cooked an amazing breakfast. It was easy to find and very comfortable. Great mid-west hospitality."
"This is a lovely place to stay! Barbara is a fantastic knowledgeable host. When I called for the reservation she told me about places to visit on our way there. One was Walnut Iowa ,a town filled with many shops. Wonderful antiques! I found a cute little ice cream chair there! It is so cute. She also told us about a great restaurant Redwood in Anita Iowa. It was the best food and service! I would go back there for sure. Our room had a fireplace in it that connected the bedroom and the bathroom. The jacuzzi was great. It also had a nice big tub and shower. It was air conditioned so was very comfortable. Our room also had a cute little enclosed balcony. The breakfast she served was a delicious egg omelette and the apple cinnamon muffin was so yummy!! She told us many interesting facts about the home and about surrounding areas of interest! She was a delight!!"
