"Love the Dr! Staff is terrible and very unprofessional. Do not return calls ask for an explantation from a letter I got to different explanations from two different staff. If you call plan on being on hold for 10 min."
"Customer service is great, and I love the nurses, sonographers, and other medical staff I've met here! I used to make coffee for many of them everyday at the Mercy Starbucks, and they're always super friendly! But if you have adult congenital heart disease, go ANYWHERE else! The Iowa Heart CHD clinic is a joke. There's only 1 cardiologist, Dr. Malik, who's... definitely not my favorite, but let's leave it at that. From what I understand, he only sees adult CHD patients on Mondays, so you're going to wait at least 3 months for an appointment. Even if you're symptomatic or have concerns... nope, you get one doc, for one day a week. My dad is also a patient at Iowa Heart, but he's not limited to the adult CHD clinic like me. He NEVER waits 3 months for an appointment. If he has concerns or symptoms, there's ALWAYS someone he can see sooner if his doctor isn't available. Don't come to Iowa Heart's Adult CHD clinic unless you want to feel like your cardiology clinic doesn't have time for you. I'm sure there's other adult CHD cardiologists in the area who will actually act like they like seeing us. It's not the CHD clinic, it's the CHD wait-list. (Quick note: I don't even have a major history of CHD. I just have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, POTS, sinus tachycardia, and trivial regurgitation in 2 valves. No surgical history or major defects, and I'm not on any cardiac meds. Yet I'm still stuck in the CHD clinic.)"
"Staff was very professional as they prepared me for surgery. Thoroughly explained my options. It was a very difficult time to be hospitalized because covid cases filled the hospital to the max and made a very busy day for the nurses and tech staff ."
"The doctors and nurses are great. They take time and listen to you. I would recommend Iowa Heart too anyone who needs a cardiologist."
"Terrible customer service. Long hold times and confusing, convoluted automated system. When staff can be reached, they are by and large rude, dismissive, and insensitive. For example, I was recently on hold for more than 25 minutes. I do not feel I was able to make a fully informed decision about a recent procedure; by that I mean the procedure seemed necessary but I was not made familiar with the full scope of possible post-procedure side effects as related to my particular case. Absolutely do not recommend."
