"The office atmosphere is tense and sometimes unfriendly. Was prescribed psychiatric medication that was not congruent with my physical medical issues. Thankfully my new provider informed me of this and took me off of a potentially damaging drug that could've caused serious long-term heart issues. You have to call every time you need a prescription refill, so keeping track of that is all up to you. It takes up to 2-3 business days to address these requests so you can imagine possible problems there."

"GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! 1. After scheduling an appointment to discuss increasing my medication dose due to suicidal thoughts, Dr. Robinson failed to address it in any way including failing to evaluate my current mental state. Up to that point I assumed that Dr. Robinson's lack of depth was merely a difference between a psychiatrist and a therapist, but ignoring a client's suicidal thoughts is unjustifiable negligence. 2. Consistently had medication refill issues that took a full work week to resolve during which time my medication would lapse. Office staff was difficult to get in touch with and unhelpful when I was able to speak to someone. 3. I signed their intro paperwork without reading every word (normal doctor stuff, right?) when an appointment slipped my mind and I called same day to reschedule I was surprised by the $105 fee but paid for my mistake and moved on. Months later I was throwing up when my appointment started, called to reschedule the same day, and was again asked to pay the $105 fee. That fee is exorbitantly higher than any other missed appointment fee I've encountered in my life. Iowa Psychiatry is surely aware that 100% of their customers are dealing with mental illness and consciously prey on them with absurdly high fees, with no compassionate wiggle room in their ridiculously strict policies. When you call to talk about it, the downright aggressive staff will belittle and gaslight you."

"Dr Jennisch is an amazing, compassionate and caring person. He listens to my concerns, especially when it comes to med side effects. He doesn’t hesitate to look into different medication options and always thoroughly explains his recommendations and asks for my input before making any changes. I’ve been seeing him for well over 10 yrs and he’s always been professional while still being personable. I am a person who generally dislikes doctors but I trust him implicitly. With that being said, my 3 star rating was based solely on office management. In 10+ yrs I can count on one hand the number of times my call has actually been answered. They are slow to respond… I’m still waiting for a call back to pay my bill and it’s been several weeks. Fortunately, my appts have been virtual which is a great convenience. Dr. J always schedules follow up visits himself so I don’t have to interact with the office very often but the times I do are quite frustrating."
