"I have had very good experiences with my pcp, and other care providers at this UnityPoint office. This has been my go to place for many years."
"I was set up with Shawn Schwabe in June through unitypoint as I did not have a pcp at the time. I had suffered an undiagnosed injury at the end of May due to a fall. That resulted in multiple trips to the ER for severe neck/shoulder pain. As well as numbness/tingling down my left arm and hand along with balance issues and severe headaches. For over 2 months the only thing Mr. Schwabe did was prescribe me a medication, which did nothing for the pain. I completed 2 months of physical therapy. Which was ordered by an ER Doctor not Mr. Schwabe. I was never given a referral for an MRI. Even after asking numerous times for a referral as I knew something was definitely wrong and my insurance company said I did NOT need to complete any physical therapy or any other form of treatment before they would authorize an MRI, per a phone call I made to them. Mr. Schwabe just told me he would refer me to the pain clinic. I took it upon myself to seek out an orthopedic specialist. Who within a week had me in for an MRI of my neck. I have 3 bulging disc's, mild spinal canal stenosis and noticeable arthritis from the middle of my neck down to the base of my neck caused by degenerative disc disease. I am now waiting for an additional test that I will have preformed in a couple of weeks. Until this test is performed they will not give any epidural injections for pain. Thus rendering Mr. Schwabes referral to the pain clinic essentially useless. ( I never went to said pain clinic either.) I absolutely would not recommend Mr. Schwabe to anyone looking for a new pcp. I feel he completely dismissed my concerns that there was definitely something wrong that warranted an MRI and clearly did not take me seriously. Unfortunately I turned out to be right in this situation."
"My mother (almost 88) diagnosed with Covid yesterday and was given option for infusion treatment. She was totally upset because earlier was told she had no symptoms. Knowing nothing about the treatment she refused it. So after talking last night I talked her into getting more information and other possible treatment from her doctor. She called at 8am. Then she called me upset because everyone sounded confused and like they were running around not knowing what was going on. I called at 8:25 and was told by Kelly my message would be high priority. It’s now 9:45 and still nothing. Not high priority to me."
"Dr Ray was the worst doctor I have ever seen. I explained that I recently moved to the area for work and I needed a prescription for a medication I have been taking for four years and he refused to help me with it. Even after I told him he could call my old doctors, get my full medical records, and call my place of employment to verify all my information he told me he would not give me a needed prescription and instead would only refer me to a specialist who would likely not be able to see me for months. He also told me he would not fill the medication for the time being until I could get an appointment with a specialist. He then told me I didn’t need the medication without ever asking any questions about my condition and told me that I would not have any withdrawal symptoms from not taking the medication anymore. I sincerely am worried for any person who listens to his medical advice since I know for a fact that what he was telling me contradicts what multiple doctors have told me. The worst service I have ever experienced. I can understand if he was nervous about writing a prescription without a relationship with a client, but how else am I supposed to get a prescription when I don’t have a primary care doctor? Why wouldn’t he do the work to validate my story when all he would need to do is transfer some medical records and make a few phone calls? Either way I will he reporting him to the State Medical Board and I would strongly discourage anyone from going to see him. I was referred to this doctor by another clinic owned by the same corporation and I have been unimpressed as a whole with the experience."
"Absolutely amazing staff. Very patient and personable. We recently choose to see Erica Craw, and to say she is amazing is selling her short. She was patient with both of my boys and made the whole visit a breeze. Usually, I'm sweating bullets and super stressed having my two boys at the doctor. Everyone was great and very kind. I can't imagine going anywhere else and I feel very lucky to have this group available her in Cedar Rapids."
