The Iowa Clinic Ear, Nose & Throat Department - West Des Moines Campus

"Go ANYWHERE else but here! They didn't pass on medical history to the surgery center when my child's surgery was scheduled 3-4weeks ago. 3 weeks later, they requested one of my twins' medical history, but not the other for ear tubes. Was a nightmare to figure out how to get the surgery center my child's medical history for a surgery they had already done once before (ear tubes). Only to find out at the end of the day Wednesday that I have to reschedule Friday's appointment so my child can be cleared by a cardiologist for a condition for which he's already been treated and is no longer an on-going issue. Then instead of having "emergency" appointments or even TRYING to get him in before Friday, the cardiologist can't/won't see him for 3 weeks. So in the meantime, I have to hope and pray that my child doesn't get another ear infection, that his pain is manageable, lose out on sleep, and do nothing but WAIT to see the a-hole cardiologist for him to ask if there have been any issues/concerns since they saw him last. You'd think if there were concerns, an ER doctor, LPN, nurse, or really anyone listening to my son's heart at all of the visits for ear infections we've had (5 since January of 2023), SOMEONE would have noticed a murmur? Maybe during a Well Child Visit with his pediatrician? To top things off, you don't call the Surgery Center to reschedule your surgery. F*** common sense, right? You call your doctor's office and wait 10min on hold for them to call you back to reschedule your surgery. Clearly nothing short of a giant cluster f**k, to which I am also partially to blame. But still am beyond appalled, inconvenienced, and thoroughly frustrated with this clinic and our medical system in general. NEVER this place...NEVER again. Would rather my cause of death be papercuts. ***Update*** From initial consultation to surgery is now 7 WEEKS!"

"They made simple promises they didn't keep and didn't apologize once for it. They ignored calls from us, the ER doctor, the hospital attending physician, and 3 nurses for 4 days. Terribly unprofessional and apalling customer service. It's enough that I will never use ANY Iowa Clinic physician."

Ignored me when I was upset, couldn't wait to literally show me the door with a nice little "thank you for coming". I managed 50 physicians and I would have never tolerated them treating a patient like that"

"Very friendly staff! I got lost in the building and was kindly greeted by the staff and was directed to where I needed to be to check in. The appointment was also very fast, check in took less than 5 minutes."
