One World Community Health Centers

"OneWorld is great in theory, but not so great in practice. I'll start with the good to make sure that I'm at least being fair. My primary care doctor is excellent. He has been managing my hormone replacement therapy for a long time now, and I'm pleased with the job he's doing. He made the referral to UNMC for the surgery I wanted done without arguing with me about it. 10 out 10, will keep seeing him. Also, OneWorld has a decent financial aid system. Expect things with that to move slowly, though. Also, OneWorld provides transportation assistance for appointments, just make sure to ask for it well in advance. If have a medical question and need to ask a nurse, they'll have a nurse call you back within a couple of hours. This is where the good ends. The pharmacy is difficult to work with, and often doesn't actually fill my new prescriptions, even after being told to do so multiple times. My psychiatrist there seems to forget everything about my case after every appointment we have. I'm tired of rehashing 15 years of symptom history every couple of months. She must either not be good at taking session notes, or she's not taking them at all. The bit of therapy I received from them back in like 2019 or so via the AIMS program was awful. I left every session feeling aggravated, and the therapist seemed to have looked at one diagnosis on my chart to form her entire viewpoint on me before I even entered her office. Being reduced to a few capital letters on a piece of paper is really irritating when you're the patient. OneWorld is also terrible at communication. Expect to have to badger them several times just to get access to your own records. Expect them to not actually send all of the records that they're to supposed to send to other healthcare systems. I have literally had to acquire paper copies of records and hand-deliver them myself to UNMC. This should not still be happening in 2023. Also, if they're supposed to be writing a letter for you, make sure you check the online patient portal for it because weeks will go by before they bother to call to tell you that the letter is ready. They just called me this morning about a letter I needed for a surgery...a surgery that happened 8 days ago. The letter was uploaded on the patient portal on November 1st, and they just finally called me about it on the 28th. If my primary care doctor wasn't as awesome as he is, OneWorld would be getting a 1 star rating. I'm planning to transfer the rest of my healthcare out of OneWorld's system because this just isn't working."

"Affordable care but no one answers the phone or returns calls to set appointments up. Left a few messages trying to set up a dental cleaning, finally called the medical side and got through to someone on the dental side, and they said to call next month as they have no openings in October. If they had answered in early Sept, maybe I could have gotten an appointment."
