"I was an inpatient for a week following a stroke. I often felt left out of treatment decisions. Records were not promptly shared with my primary care provider."

"My dad was in the hospital, almost died, but recovered. When it was time to transfer him to a nursing home no one would accept him because they falsely reported that he had a history of heroin use. They also labeled him as aggressive because of his behavior when he was unconscious, he had no such behaviors when he was awake. When we tried to get his record corrected through the social worker and the patient advocacy department we were gaslighted. Patient advocacy services s a joke and only makes excuses for and defends the hospital. When asked for the contact info/business card for the social worker we were told they didn’t have any. They reached out several days later via text. No phone call or talking through the details. The only reason for one star is because some of the nurses (about 1/2) were really good at their jobs and compassionate. One threatened to label us as leaving against medical advice because we were getting ready to leave and she didn’t have the discharge paperwork ready. When we waited, there was nothing to sign or for us to do, it turns out it was just a display of power and control. Do better for the community please."

"On 6th floor leaving worn masks everywhere in patient room. Patient lung is full of fluid n can't breath on own n blood pressure can't get regulation n force them to walk to bathroom. Patient in so much misery would rather die at this point. However if they pass all video n pictures will be given to all news and social media sites. Cause if this is happening to one many others who have nobody to speak for them is going through worse. I recommend anyone who gets stuck at this hospital fighting for ur life to lawyer up also cause u probably going to need it."

"Absolutely disgusted with their behavior in the emergency department. Told me my son had a brain bleed and treated me like I abused my child and transferred us to Iowa city for my baby to be poked and prodded just for them to find out he never had a brain bleed and the scanner messed up and called dhs on us and had an entire case opened up on us. Absolutely disgusting and will never be going there again."

"This review has taken a year plus to formulate in my head. Worst medical experience ever. There was one competent nurse that released me. Otherwise everyone from the doctors on down were beyond horrible. This is Unity Point Emergency room. November 2022. My bill was 2500 which I paid in full. During the brief bill paying process, the woman assisting me with my bill stated that she lives around the corner from this emergency room and when she is forced to take her young children there she records the visit because scary things happen there. Frightening and mean uneducated people that were/ are employed there. Hopefully the staff has been almost completely replaced. Scary bad. I highly suggest you drive to another part of the state if humanly possible for urgent care! So sad!!!!!!"
