Reviews of Artists Palette
"Artists Drive is a beautifully scenic, one-way drive through an area with a stop for Artists Palette. I visited on a weekend so there were a reasonable amount of cars, but plenty of room to pull over for quick photos. Gorgeous rock colors and a nice break from hiking."
"For the best experience at Artist Palette, aim for early sunrise or close to sunset. The vibrant colors truly come alive during these times, enhancing the landscape's beauty. A short hike from the parking lot leads to stunning viewpoints where you can marvel at the natural artistry of the rock formations. Don't hesitate to explore different paths to fully immerse yourself in this captivating wonderland."
"One of the most unique drives in California. Be warned, though, most pictures online have been embellished under the best lighting conditions or digitally enhanced. It’s still spectacular, but don’t have unrealistic expectations of seeing LGBTQ flag colored mountains."
"From the first parking lot, you can see salt field, Badwater and mountain but I am not too impressed. You have to continue to drive to the overlook and then you can see the colorful mountain. That is the true artist palette!"
"Artists Palette stands out as one of the most breathtaking destinations in Death Valley, and it holds a special place in my heart, especially during sunset. This area boasts mesmerizing hills adorned with vibrant colors created by oxidized minerals. While a small parking area along Artist's Drive provides a glimpse, the true magic unfolds when you venture down among the hills. Though paths are scattered, offering various routes, the beauty is absolutely worth the exploration. I recommend arriving early or late for the optimal lighting experience. It's a must-see when in Death Valley. A quick note for visitors: Artists Drive is a one-way route, and the exit leads to Badwater Rd. While there's no easy way out, the journey is undeniably worth it."
