"Great place to stop and rest and let my dog explorer on a Reno to Vegas trip. I don't know about restrooms but they do have picnic tables and covered areas which I guess it must be busy in the summer months I was there in December"
"Could have been an awesome stop. Beautiful scenery, reasonable level spots. Vault toilets are locked, no potable water."
"Located just off Route 95 at Walker Lake. Multiple marvels with the campground with picnic tables and shading over the tables. Each has a safe fire pit with grill top. There is a water faucet to get water for putting out the fires on one of the levels labeled. This is just off the road and on paved roadway. Very handy, but is windy and has traffic noise from the traffic on the road above. This is a great rest stop when traveling between Las Vegas and Reno. If you are lucky, you may see a bighorn sheep as they frequent the area. Helpful Travel Safety Tips: cell signals are spotty and often absent. When preparing for travel through desert terrain and Nevada road-tripping, I suggest the you take the following: a topography map of the state which is much more detailed than a regular map, 1 gallon of water for each occupant, nuts/dried fruit, sunglasses, large brimmed hat, sunscreen, long sleeve shirt, long pants, close toed sneakers/hiking footwear, a roll of toilet paper with a good garbage bag (always pack out your trash), flashlight with fresh batteries, and a blanket. Also, I recommend that you get gas regularly, keeping above 3/4 of a tank as there are areas without gas for many miles between service stations."
"Dry camping at Walker Lake provides one with breathtaking views. No water available. Trash disposal only. Very clean. We were there in early April and had no problem getting a spot. Covered picnic tables at some sites. None in other areas. Please note! Contrary to other posts I've seen, this is NOT a free camping area."
"Sportsman and Walker Lake are must-stops on your drive down 95 - if anything, to stop and soak in the overload of landscapes here. The steep east slope of the Wassuk Range falls right into this ancient sea. Absolutely stunning. Bathrooms are clean, and the shaded windbreaks make a lovely place to think and ponder. You can tell even though Walker's silent, it's still well-loved by all. The HUGE downside here is the lack of things to do - thanks to the now dead lake. Fish no longer live here, boats cannot be launched due to decreased water levels. Walker is a sad case of people's stupidity and negligence, but somehow, this ancient sea remains magical. Our fingers are crossed that she bounces back in the near future."
