Aspen Dental - Ankeny, IA

"This was my first time coming in and I came in for a broken tooth. Usually I'm good about reading reviews before trying a new place too. Anyways, the ladies in the front were super nice and welcoming, but I was there for quite awhile with a lot of of sitting and waiting. While waiting, another patient came in and they couldn't find his appointment even though they had proof. When it actually came for Dr. Yuan to come in, he was completely straightforward and not welcoming. He never said hi and introduced himself, there was a piece of paper hanging up stating his name. He asked me the last time I seen a dentist and I thought he rolled his eyes at me. I'm sorry, but you don't know my personal life. He also found a couple cavities and didn't bother to ask me if I wanted those fixed to, just told his hygienist to put it down. When it came time to actually check out, I had to wait some more in the room and the hygienist would come get me. When she did, she told me to go wait in the lobby again. Why? They stated that they go through a traveling oral surgeon, and they quoted me over $7k for everything in the procedure. I just received a copy of the quote."

"Went there for a broken tooth, after waiting for an hour past my appointment time to finally be seen while listening to highly unprofessional dental assistant conversations, was seen by dentist! Dentist looked at the broken tooth for about 30 seconds and one other tooth m. He wanted to try to do a filling and cap it(this would have cost me well over $500 with insurance) I wanted an extraction, he wouldn’t do that and said that an oral surgeon would have to remove the tooth. They wouldn’t have one there that is in network with my insurance until Jan 15 or 16 and at the Merle Hay location. This is going to cost about $300. I asked the dentist if he could smooth down the part of the tooth that was digging into my tongue to get me some relief until I could figure out what I wanted to do next. He said he would not do this because he was afraid the tooth would “shatter” the same tooth he wants to fill in and cap….what!? So I leave still in pain with the tooth digging into my tongue. Go to the emergency dentist on Hickman…dentist there smooths the tooth down! No problem and tells me I have a cavity in that tooth that I should get taken care. Not one mention of a cavity from the dentist at Aspen. Will not go back to Aspen in Ankeny! After reading the other reviews, how is Dr Yuan still practicing dentistry?"

"Broke a molar at work, called at 4 in the afternoon, had me in by 10:30, after originally getting a 12:30. Dr. Yuan was able to save the molar, removed all of the old metal filling, and made my bite better than it was before. Having some anxiety about possibly having to have the tooth pulled, his confidence in telling me "it wasn't too bad, I can fill it no problem" was a great relief. He was very thorough and wasn't rushed even though I was short notice. My out of pocket after my insurance was surprising low, all in all getting my mouth fixed before the holiday was a great surprise."

"I got my wisdom teeth taken out here and it went surprisingly well! I know everyone has a different experience and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was nervous with all the videos I’ve seen online. I took care of myself as directed and listened to my body. Had no bruising on the outside of my face, minimal swelling, low pain, and a speedy recovery. I was up and back to my jogging two days post op. Smooth surgery, icing, and self care as directed helped me to recover so squick. Thank you!"

"Starting with first contact on the phone they were very accommodating. They worked with me to figure out my dental insurance, had appointments readily available for me. On my first appointment everyone in the office was professional and caring. Getting x-rays was ok, she tried to work quickly but was very gentle. Hygienist explained to me what was going on with my gums and what would need to be done. Dr Yuan was cordial and straightforward. I knew my mouth was a mess and did not feel any judgment. They went over the costs which were less than I thought and scheduled all my appointments. They were even able to fit me in for a cleaning the same day. I will recommend Aspen Dental to anyone needing a dentist."
