"I had a pretty simple breakfast order, hash browns, eggs, toast and two sausages patties. Also got a side pancake with grilled banana and cinnamon roll. Hash browns are good, eggs cooked well and toast, well it's hard to go wrong there. The sausage patties are hand made and over mixed. They are uneven patties, so the outside is cooked more than the middle. They are over-pressed which makes it hard, and definitely needs some seasoning. The pancake was plain and lacked flavor. Coffee was a mild roast and pretty decent, the server was great. Cinnamon rolls was delicious and went well with the coffee. Next time I'm in Iowa City I will definitely give them another try."
"While in Iowa City, we found the most delicious place for breakfast Bluebird Diner. Every single thing we got was amazing. I had to try a little of everything that included omelet, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and the bacon. My wife got the Belgian waffle and my daughter a hamburger. I loved the biscuits and gravy the most. The gravy was almost a little sweet and the biscuits cooked perfectly with just a bit of crunch. My other daughter got the hot chocolate and was in heaven. The bacon could have been cooked a little more for my liking but I also did not ask for it crispy. The place had a really cool old-school feel and the staff was all amazing. Very cool area but I can tell the parking might be a little crazy so be sure and check what time you are going and the traffic. Lots to see in the area and some very cool artwork on the buildings."
"It was ok. I’m glad there wasn’t a super long wait - there’s absolutely no waiting area. Our server was fantastic. No wait time on food or drinks. Our food was kind of disappointing, though. The sausage patties were completely pink on the inside. I asked to sub my hash browns, but they came with my food on top of my eggs. The eggs and bacon were perfect. They actually mixed the shredded cheese with the eggs, which is nice. We also saw Caitlin Clark, so that was pretty cool."
"Wanted to try this for some time so went after the football game. Unfortunately was disappointed. I ordered a classic burger medium rare w/fries. NO chance this was a 6oz burger & it was cooked well done. As you can see in the pic the bun overwhelmed the burger, I'd say it was ¼#. Friend ordered the biscuits & gravy & said they were very good, but he ordered the eggs over easy & received over hard. 1 person at the table next to us had pancakes that were very dark brown/nearlyblack. Maybe the kitchen was short handed? Might try again sometime but not in a hurry to do so."
