Coralville Driver's License Station - By Appointment

"Loved my experience here. Arrived 13 minutes early and was called within 3 minutes. I was done by the time of my original appt. The only thing was that the check-in scanner didn’t work so I had to enter my confirmation number from the reminder email. And I wish I’d been told it’s okay to smile for the photo…after the pic was taken I noticed a small sign stating this. Overall a vast improvement from before."

"Dismissive and ignorant employee Calen, kaylen, kaitlyn, not sure exactly, tried to shew me away when I showed up for a walk in change of address. Said I didnt need my address correct on my ID which you do for some things unrelated to driving. Made it sound like id be there for hours waiting when they had almost no one in the lobby. A different employee helped me in 5 mins in and out. Looked at the other reviews someone had this exact same experience with the walkin issue."

"I went into the new place to get my license renewed. As I walked in I took a ticket as you always would. I noticed on the ticket it directed me to speak with an employee to get a number. There were no employees on the floor at the time so I walked up to a window with no customers at it. I approached window 4 I believe. As I walked up to the window lady instantly had a very unpleasant and abrupt demeanor. She never allowed me to get out more than three words then began loudly telling me a number has been called and to sit down. There was virtually no traffic in the place at the time this happened and I had been given no direction or guidance on who I should talk to about setting an on sight appt. I tried to voice my opinion on how disrespectful and unprofessional she was being, and was met with more ridicule by the woman next to her. I just kept my mouth shut and sat at the seat until someone else saw me and called me up. That being said, the gentlemen that called me up to handle my renewal was very courteous and pleasant. In my opinion a government job that has a high volume of traffic should have pleasant respectful people there that enjoy interacting with the public. The treasures office was delightful doing business with today. Happy holidays!!!"

"The reputation for rude clerks is well earned. The clerks must really hate their jobs and it shows. Maybe they are over worked and underpaid but they shouldn’t take it out on people who just need help with government mandated IDs"

"The new location is larger and has more service stations to accommodate more people. There is a lot of free parking too which is always a plus. By making an online appointment, my experience was great. I was able to check-in within seconds on the screens right at the door when you enter and I was called right away. The employee was nice and I had completed what I came in for within minutes. My lower rating is due to it not being accessible by public transit easily. This is a HUGE disservice to those that only get by using public transit. This is something that should have been considered when relocating. Or at least have some discussions with IC and Coralville transit to add a bus stop that services this area because a 15minute walk from a further bus stop to a location that isn’t even on a route with a paved walkway isn’t safe or practical."
