"Great meeting point for snowmobilers and others alike. It's a central point between Bear Valley and Lake Alpine especially since there are bathrooms. If you're snowmobiling to the Bear Valley village it's about 15 minutes away and if you're not in the village but coming up with your trailer there's lots of spots to unload and load your sled. Route 4 is also closed at the sno-park so traffic pretty much ends at that point. Can get very busy on the weekends, especially on long holiday weekends."
"Need to purchase permit in advance. Limited parking space (less than 20 spots for full-size vehicle). Although one can still park on CA-4, parking could be challenging and law enforcement is in place for citations (No Parking signs are set near the winter closure gate) This Sno-Park is more for older kids and snowmobile activity. Need a little walk to campground area to find a better slope for sledding. When snow is still fresh in early January, it could be challenging for small children to go uphill. Walking distance to winter closure gate on CA-4."
"This Sno-Park is just north of Spicer Sno-Park but a lot busier. We ended heading north from Spicer Sno-Park for about 10 mins, because I had read that there would be more snow at Lake Alpine. Indeed their was more snow, but not by much. Lake Alpine had more natural slopes for Sledding. Kids had a great time. Rangers were at the Park entrance asking for Permits. Order online and print at home, or just show on phone. $15 for one day or $45 from November until end of May."
"Although it wasn't snowing near the bottom of the mountain, there was enough snow at the Lake Alpine Sno Park to do some sledding and have some snow ball fights. There is a fee to park and the parking lot is small but cars are coming and going and there is room on the street to park also. There are bathrooms and tables (covered in snow) if you need to sit. You can find several hills in between trees to sled down on both sides of the street. The scenery is pretty and we were happy to have snow when there was none in the forecast. I'm pretty sure it was the rangers who built a couple of cool snowmen throughout the park that gave us some fun photo ops. Great place to stop and have a bit of fun in the snow."
"Great place for showshoing and cross country skiing. Watch for snowmobiles. Rangers were checking permits as we drove in on route 4. Lake Alpine is beautiful."
