"After a phone call and email for a request for service, weeks later have received no reply whatsoever from Mr. Laughlin."
"This company told me one thing and did another! They lied to another company about sending an email that I never received! Would not recommend this lawyer to nobody!!"
"I was originally referred to this firm and was told they were "the best". The initial meeting was great, they take you into a corner office and lay out the plan they have for your case. But as time goes by, their help stops and they start asking you to do more stuff and you start to do more of the work for them but that bill keeps climbing. They charge an insane amount of money for a question through email. I understand they're lawyers ajdntheir education has value but I won't spend $120 to ask where they want me to send a document, that is outrageous. Any time I tried to get a follow up on a timeline or how far we had to go, I was given an indirect answer when they weren't busy ignoring me. I owe them almost $3000 and I'm now almost 4 years with them and am still not with my wife and son. I would highly recommend you take your business elsewhere and avoid Liz Van Arkel if at all possible."
"After waiting six weeks for this firm to set up a closing, we were emailed the afternoon before the closing date, with all the paperwork that needed to be notarized, scanned and returned, plus we were asked to overnight the paperwork originals, At our cost.. if we lived in a big city, which we don’t, it would’ve been a monumental task to perform in five hours. Five days later, we closed. Then it took them two days to disperse the funds via wire transfer. And I doubt it would’ve happened in two days if I hadn’t ridden them so hard via email. I would never recommend this firm, there’s only one person named Deb who does her work. She’s the only one that communicated."
"I retained Davis Brown's service, as a plaintiff, concerning a contract issue, a lease to be specific. My court appearance was not handled by the attorney with whom I had working due to an unrelated event and the attorney who represented me in front of the judge was terrible. Aside from not being able to connect how the contract violates Iowa Code in multiple aspects, Brown Davis’s attorney denied evidence being submitted. The defendant was committing perjury in the courtroom and I had audio evidence proving it. Evidence that my attorney had previously received and reviewed. I immediately mentioned that we need to play it for the judge. My attorney said we could not as our argument was closed. Later I was told that evidence proving perjury can be submitted at any time during a trial. I honestly believe that if the perjury was pointed out the outcome would have been substantially different."
